Reidy played against Effin.
I would have gone, except Thursday evening is not great for me with work.
But the stream is handy, probably get most of it on that.
I believe Finn wonât be playing.
Finnjured?
Itâs sink or swim in the Premier Intermediate championship.
Letâs hope heâs not Finnished for the year now.
Cruciate.
Predictions- 15/27
Senior- 4/5
Premier Intermediate- 2/4 (draw fucked me yet again)
Intermediate- 3/6
Junior- 6/12
Absolutely obliterated in the junior this week.
Senior is probably more predictable, I thought Kilmallock might just pip Na Piarsaigh and maybe they would have had Condon not pulled off an unbelievable save from SOB. But a one-point win, we always knew itâd be close.
Couple of surprises at Premier Intermediate, with Knockainey holding Bruff. The loss of Sean Finn to injury and the red card to Chris Browne mentioned above probably did them no favours. I did think Effin were a great shout at 7/4 and that came through. The big shock, however, was Glenroe beating Monaleen. Opens this group right up; only 2 games in and nobody has 4 points. Could be very very tight.
Feohanagh at 5/2 was mad odds, I didnât tip them but if there was any sort of in-play betting, youâd have been all over it after Sam Cronolly went off as Brureeâs sole attacking threat. Croom at 5/2 aswell got a great win over Murroe/Boher who are in a bit of bother now. NaP2 had too much for Caherline.
In the other group, an absolutely huge win for Knockaderry over Kilmallock2. The latter now probably favourites for the relegation play-off. As dodgy has mentioned, the Croagh/Kilfinny odds were also crazy against Pallasgreen, I think everyone would have made them favourites, although they only won by 1 in the end with the late goal for Pallasgreen. G/B also lived up to their favourites tag and are well in the hunt for a quarter-final slot.
I did really poorly in the junior. Crecora/Manister couldnât beat Drom, but Templeglantine did get the win over B/B. Be tight at the top in this one, youâd expect everyone to beat Blackrock2 comfortably enough and I would expect any of the real contenders to beat the Stakers too.
I went for Claughaun but Killeedy pulled out a big win; apparently Cian Magnier Flynn was excellent in attack for Killeedy. With Patâs getting beaten by 4-goal Monagea aswell, makes this group very interesting. As expected, C/B beat Ahane very handily. I predicted an 18-point margin, it ended up being 30.
Askeaton didnât get the win against Kieranâs but both Doon2 & Mungret2 won as expected. F/K play Kieranâs on Saturday in the last game of round 2. Probably looks like Doon2 will get through here, even at this stage. F/K probably favourites to join them although Kieranâs might have something to say about that.
I did tip Christians to win, they won quite comprehensively in the end. Same as Tour, as would have been expected. However, in the close match, I went for K/D and the Well just edged them which puts the Well in a great position.
Not a great week predictions-wise, but it shows how hard it can be to call some of these lower grades. Doesnât seem to be a standout team as of yet in any of Premier Intermediate, Intermediate or Junior and maybe no obvious relegation candidate in Prem Int or Int which will lend itself to close contests.
That save equalled if not bettered by Hennessy in fairness.
2/3 senior A my bold draw prediction in Killmallock NAP just off.
1/3 senior B Wrongside of Kyledimo and Ballybrown wins two comprehensive wins too, hard to draw a form line through that group now other than BB look impressive.
2/4 Prem inter Glenroe beating Monaleen surprised me, Knockainey/Bruff draw that was a hard call anyway
5/6 Intermediate M/B losing comprehensively to Croom let me down. They look in real trouble
JA 1/3 group one, 2/3 group 2, 2/2 Group 2, 1/3 group 4
16/27
Intermediate saved me. Fairly shite predicting even if I did beat @Aristotle
Box office at all levels
Any idea why Mungret v Ballybrown was so close? Have Ballybrown improved from their first outing? Or are Mungret not that good this year?
Donât think Mungret are that strong, for whatever reason, compared to last year. Got a fair beating off Feenagh/Kilmeedy in the first round. Even in the league, they lost to a couple of Junior B sides and weaker Junior A sides which definitely wouldnât have happened in 2021.
The time has flown.
We never recovered from that.
Would have been lovely for that team to make an All Ireland final. They got Limerick back on the road after the strike and they absolutely burst themselves.
The 2013 Munster final was only surpassed by the 2018 final for me.
Even the 2014 win v tipp was one of my favourite days. The dowling goal, Tom Ryan point and insurance point from Seamus hickey.
There was a serious sense of pride after the Kilkenny game in 2014 despite losing.
Around 13 & 14 time people felt a massive connection to that team and related to them. Very fondly remembered team.
The lads now are like superman really, never put a foot wrong, always dig it out. No vulnerability.
They made short work of the Tipp Hall of Famers. Letâs not forget that.
The Munster semi final in 2013 was another great day.
7/2 no hopers on a scalding hot day, âtwas never in doubt really.
Great era too, Cork were very fancied those years, Clare had all that talent, Plus Tipp, KK. Fun time in hurling.
