Bad loss for Tour

Youre worse than an auld woman.

Surely those East matches are Junior B?

Big win for the Well’s seconds against Tour; very hard to call now. Huge win for D/B, puts them right back into contention.

Thought Effin would win, although the POD injury talk is a concern. NCW obviously have a few big men back.

Monaleen beating a reduced-Finn Bruff isn’t really a massive surprise either, but opens up that nicely. You’d expect both those sides to make the semis from here.

They are

Doon 2-7 Ahane 0-6

Poor enough game tbh, a lot of wides. Jimmy Quilty getting sent off inside the first few mins was probably the most interesting thing that happened. He’s spent most of the half hanging over the fence in Cappamore.

Adam English back for Doon, set up a goal but has now gone off, didn’t notice an injury but would be weird otherwise.

Dan man marking Pat Simon, couldn’t stop him scoring a goal after being well set up by Dean Coleman.

English set up Coleman for the other goal, roasted his man and popped it across.

Ahane just have nothing up front other than Tom who has 5 of their 6, Colum Carroll got a point at the very end of the half.

Doon half-back line have been excellent, all scored from play: Patrick Cummins very solid, Josh Ryan rampaging forward and delivering some lovely ball, Richie class in the middle.

Darragh Stapleton burned for the Doon juniors, starting full-forward. Johnny Meskell in goal for Ahane, Ronan Fox back for them too.

Dean Coleman 1-1
Pat Simon 1-0
Barry Murphy 0-2 (0-1 free)
Richie English 0-1
Josh Ryan 0-1
Patrick Cummins 0-1
Darragh Stapleton 0-1

Tom Morrissey 0-5 (0-3 frees)
Colum Carroll 0-1

3-12 to 0-9 now. The gap to the top four is getting wider.

On one hand ye have 4 brilliant club teams but the gap can hardly be a good thing.

It’s not

Ballybrown probably the best poised to get into that or even become a top 5. I know the Senior A/B split was necessary but you’d wonder would they be better off trying the old system again?

Was thinking that seed the big 4 and let the other 12 fight for four quarter final places.

That definitely won’t close the gap.

At least they can entertain each other.

Mungret and Monaleen will eventually get there with the populations they have

Limerick have the strongest set of four clubs. You aren’t going to close the gap by a format.

In fairness that has been said since around 98/99
