Limerick GAA 2023 - League champions means nothing now šŸ

The Dow blocked down on the endline but C/K couldnā€™t score a goal.

Dempsey has been unreal.

A great day for the latte drinking, SUV driving parishes of Limerick

Mark Dwyer with a freetaking exhibition

Heā€™s surely worth a call up

15 points 4 or 5 from play

James Daly goal the crucial score with the goal, opened up the 6-point gap and C/K panicked after that. Theyā€™ll regret a really poor opening 25 minutes when they had the wind. When they drew level and were on top in the second half, Na Piarsaigh just had the experience to push on and get an extra point or two. Alan Dempsey in particular was absolutely unreal at the back, man of the match for sure in my eyes.

C/K had the advantage for pace but didnā€™t really use it enough. Also didnā€™t have the bench, obviously Seamus Hickey was a massive, massive loss, heā€™s been scoring 4 or 5 points a game not to mention his work rate. Na Piarsaigh brought on James Daly, Dylan Cronin, Dylan Lynch, Vince Harrington whereas apart from Eoin Barry who did very well, C/K werenā€™t really improving the team when they brought on subs. Mullane is workmanlike but he really should have got the ball in hand after blocking Dowling which would have given them a chance.

The way itā€™s going Iā€™m afraid. Most clubs just cant compete with clubs with those numbers.

Itā€™s a joke there isnā€™t another club around Caherdavin. Their numbers are so high. Pulling from Corbally too. As for Monaleen, they probably even have more numbers with Castletroy and Annacotty

Good win for Monaleen, I thought Roscrea would have too much for them. Maybe the spell down in the lower tier, integrate a lot of new young players, mightnā€™t do them any harm and theyā€™ll have a proper crack off the Senior B group next year.

Na piarsaigh have a small enough membership

Surprising to hear. I wonder which clubs have the highest in the county

Surely be noted in the county convention report?

Clubs in big towns Iā€™d say

Super sized clubs should be divided or should other clubs amalgamate to compet???
If you look at the catchment size of some clubs like Monaleen , Mungret, Na Piarsaigh , Newcastlewest theres no way most clubs could compete with them

Monaleen physically stronger

Theyā€™ve challenges that come with that too. Competing sports etc. Having a hurling school at secondary in the area is more important i think

All clubs have competing sports.

I think Napā€™s intermediates training with their seniors is massive for them. The ball just stuck for them more than it did for Croagh today. Na Piarsaigh were physically bigger and more imposing, they won probably 60-65% of the 50/50s. In James Oā€™Brien and Pat Gleeson they had two lads well capable of fielding high ball. Kevin Daly was very impressive while he was on the field, must have got 4 or 5 points.

I will say though, at 11-10, Nap were awarded a highly dubious point, to go 2 up. 3 minutes later they were awarded an even more dubious point. Those score seemed to knock the stuffing out of Croagh and they never recovered, the Daly goal arrived soon after to put lead out to 6 and that was goodnight Irene.

It will be difficult for our lads to get back on the saddle again for next year, two successive final defeats in 14 months is tough.

Great win for Monaleen. They will give the AI a good rattle now.

4 out of 6 winners in Munster finals is surely the highest in a long time. For a while our intermediate and junior champions in hurling couldnā€™t get past the first round. The standard in club in the county has certainly risen

Not for their best players though, knocking around some fun at rugby or the desmond league. Youā€™ve ail and decent soccer sides vying for the best players in big towns and limerick
