He also scored one of the greatest points I’ve ever seen fron the sideline in what may have been his last puck for Limerick vs Cork. It meant nothing at the time as we were winning well, so nothing was made of it, but it was an unreal score
It’s up there with Careys point v Clare for me
Gillane togged and in the warm up
Try to stop him from assaulting anyone before the match starts
Tom M in for Hego
HT: Limerick 1-14 Westmeath 0-5
Limerick are very clearly hunting goals but have only got 1 because they have a non-goalscoring full-forward line picked.
The midfield & half-forward line have continuously turned down handy points to deliver good balls inside but the lads don’t have a natural instinct to go for them. If Gillane comes on here, he could easily get a goal or two.
We are putting in some great balls though and Flanagan does look way sharper.
Byrnes has been immense, you wouldn’t know he’s been away. FOC classy. CON running the show at 11, although has a few wides. Tom nailing everything.
Westmeath physically outmatched and not taking simple opportunities.
Big breeze to come for Limerick, could rack up a massive score second half.
1-14 to 0-5 at HT, Sham much sharper, DOD has a few scores after a sluggish first 20, Byrnes very sharp, BM and WOD well in control in the middle and Tom M has about 5 from play
HT: Limerick 1-27 Westmeath 1-15
Started the second half very well but lost momentum in the last 15/20 when we brought on lots of subs and Coughlan got a black card and got a bit ragged when down to 14.
Wasted some amount of goal chances. Plenty in the first half, Casey hit the bar 2nd half, OOR was done for throwing it to Gillane when he was one-on-one, Boylan got done for overcarrying when we had two free men inside and Gillane volleyed a point over when Aido had created a chance.
Still played generally well and it was good to see Byrnes, Casey, CON, Gillane, Quinlan all back and gametime into FOC, Connolly, Boylan.
DOD got 0-5 from play (although never went for goal, he got some great ball). Tom scored even more I’d say.
Flanagan was better, Casey was sharp, Boylan was only okay though. CON was excellent, WOD did some work and our backs were totally on top. Nash reads the game so well and probably looked most likely to create a goal too.
Power did his chances no harm. Assured under a few dangerous dropping balls, good puckouts and a very good save at the end.
I find myself nodding in agreement there, that sums it all up perfectly, Power ahead of McCarthy for me after today
What’s that from?
Today’s programme- Cathal O’Neill.
Amusing choice of goalkeeper for his 7 a side dream team.
Put up the full picture.
I like them parts of the program.
