Limerick GAA 2024-25

If the word around is to be believed, there’s a distinct awareness of that cliff edge possibility and there’s going to be efforts to try and soften that over the next two years.

Up to new players to take the places though. Might see more getting some sustained chances.

Ah sure. After we lived this summer, we can winter anywhere

Is Conor Boylan transferring to Midleton true? Big loss to Na Pairsaigh.

Richie’s exit leaves is lighter with options in the full backline. A line where we have a huge injury profile.

We will be relying on Casey, Finn, Nash and Dan being fit for c’ship.

FOC is still untested and might not be strong enough for inter county hurling the way the game is going. Teams typically can have huge men on the inside line now.

Outside of FOC - we don’t have other options. Costello was not up to it and they have let Quilty go from the panel.

Who has better options than Limerick in the full back line?

Lads need to relax a little with all this depth talk.

When the news breaks next week you’ll have to revisit this post.

The word from the side group isn’t good

I’ve just put a ton on Clare to retain the All Ireland.

They look well placed. Bad vibes out of cork

They had every star in the sky align for them last year and they couldn’t get it done.
You can forget about Cork this year.

They’re mentally wiped. Not a bit of corkness left.

Sean ODonoghue must be mentally finished anyway after that AI display.
Coleman not far behind.
Connolly a wan hit wonder.
Harnedy can hardly walk.
Horgan :man_shrugging:
Hayes had a year tbf but he’s a known now.
The Downey brothers still have clown feet.
Pat Ryan is a lovely man but the way he froze on AI day was not good.

Kiely will convert Adam English into a top class corner back.

The big thing is trying to sort out the attack.

We need to start scoring more goals. In fairness it’s a miracle gillane didn’t score two v cork and both ended up frees out.

Whether it’s o Brien, Casey and gillane or maybe English, gillane and o Brien I’m not certain but I’d wonder will gillane be a sub early doors.

Maybe another motivational type move by kiely but I’d be slightly worried about him this year. He’s lost a half yard of pace.

I think Kyle moving to 11 sorts all the defensive issues. You’ve to stop it at source imo.

Diarmaid Byrnes could certainly be on the way out unless he can straighten his hurl.
If Dowling can get his act together, he’ll be on the long range frees and Byrnes may loose out in favour of a tighter marker.

Until Nicky comes back…

I wouldn’t be rushing to let a lad who’s never played in goals at that level to takeover long range frees.

He’s obviously a big game player but you’ve to be fair to him as well. Serious amount in puck outs and general keeping as it is.

The one really annoying thing is the Munster loser meets too Leinster sides to get back into the all Ireland final.

Three years in a row Clare got Kilkenny in the semis.

Things can change but I’d rather meet any of the Leinster sides in a semi final over Clare, cork or Waterford anyway.

Young Gillane will win an all star in goals this year

Sure that won Tipp the AI in 2019. We got the winners of Cork and Kilkenny (and this was a Cork team back when Patrick Horgan was on the team on merit). Tipp had a glorified Christy Ring cup group of Laois and Wexford to overcome
