The Kilkenny man is a good lapdog
Hoping for a better showing than last year.
Quite a young panel; 13 U-16s I make it which I would say is the most weâve had since it moved to an U-17 competition.
A few of the other Munster counties are supposed to be very strong too but just important to be competitive and play a somewhat decent style of hurling.
Any report from the GG?
Mike Casey only a dead leg thankfully
Coach Kiely relieved all these stupid league games are done and dusted so they can get some good solid training done over the next month.
His leg is DEAD?!
Kiely was visibly frustrated after last night. While itâs only the league, managing only 1-12 at home against Wexford is a very poor return - especially when the forward line had probably 5 championship starters.
Fuck knows whatâs happening this team from a S and C perspective - but Kiely seemed annoyed by all the injuries for the first time in the interview.
Declan Hannon, Peter Casey, Barry Nash, DOD, CON, Dan Morrissey, Kyle Hayes, WOD, Hego, Barry Murphy, Mike Casey, Sean Finn have all had injury disrupted leagues with little game time.
Given the condensed season injury profile of teams is a deciding factor - last July we had 3 big injuries while Cork and Clare had a full pick.
Not time to panic - we are well capable of getting out of Munster - but the injuries will need to clear up and we will need to get out best 18/19 players available if we are to have a chance to compete for AI.
Whatâs clear from the league is beyond the first 20 players and the depth isnât just there - the likes of Ethan Hurley, OâDalaigh, FOC, Stokes, are still a long way of inter county level options.
On the flip side Cork are flying and look a cut above everyone so far this year. Itâs probably a good thing we are not facing off in a league final. There is one time to beat them this season and thatâs in a knock out game in July if we get there.
Finishing 3rd in Munster might actually be a good thing for Limerick in the long run. Dont need Munster final really and can build ahead of steam before an AI semi. OâDonovan back is a big plus. Probably lacking a bit of depth in the backs. First time in a long time so many questions over various positions?
Fairly high mileage on all them lads tbf
A month to clear up a few knocks on the injury front after 4 weeks out in a row in a league where once the status for next year was secured it was effectively job done.
Limerick could yet name a championship 26 with a subs bench containing the likes of Hannon, Caseys X2, Reidy, Tom Morrisey and Flanagan. I wouldnât write their obituary just yet or crown Cork as AI winners in waiting.
That will stand to them. Theyâll be ready come championship. Lads need to have faith in these fellas.
Limerick were lucky that the Wexford hurlers had a training session the morning of the match. It could and probably should have been a bigger win for us.
Given the current s&c coach was well down his list of preferred candidates perhaps he is pointing the finger, but a lot the lads getting injured have very high milage on the clock. Iâd say the current s&c team have inherited a lot of legacy debt.
Or maybe the self taught S&C messiah is not the messiah he thinks he is!
I canât ever remember Dan Morrissey being out for such a spell. Anyone know what his issue is?
Hannon named twice and didnât start and Morrissey no game time at all so hard to see either start first game of championship. Hopefully theyâll come into the team as it goes on. The rest it doesnât seem to be anything serious so youâd expect them to be ok to start.
So six the backs look like Finn, Casey, Byrnes, Hayes, Nash and either Murphy or Coughlan depending on whether Nash is corner or wing back. Forwards thereâs spaces up for grabs. Gillane Hegarty Lynch OâNeill should be nailed on. OâBrien currently ahead of Flanagan. And McCarthy Casey or English for the corner.
I was surprised limerick went for him - reports are fairly mixed on him. But championship is all that matters
JP needs to get the cheque book out and get Kev in for next year
Limerick are very Munster rugby circa 2009.
The fans are a bunch of dickheads.
The players are out of control and over the hill.
The manager has lost the run of himself. Swanning about the place in a Ryder cup top. What was he actually thinking at the court case?
The country facing massive economic uncertainty.
None of the Limerick players have killed anybody yet thankfully.
Who is the S&C coach?
They tried and failed to get Michael Comerford from Kilkenny.
Theyâll play Dublin in Abbotstown on the BOICMC on Saturday week and thatâll give a cleaner indication as to where they are before they come to Our House on April 20th.
