That can still be applied to both losers of the weekend.
Any fixtures for lower grades released tonight?
Are Rathkeale the correct favs?
I would have it quite close but Rathkeale are probably slightly better. I donât expect either to challenge for the championship. Mungret are a step ahead of everyone else, Caseyâs definitely next in line. I would be very surprised if anyone else won it.
Adare unlucky key injuries disrupted team just before throwing in. By time Mark Foley and Shane Fitzgibbon could get best 15 on field game was gone as lost toss as well. Double blow:/ Tough pill to sparrow for work we doing at top table to get back. Second half diminished 1-12 to 1-9 which is better reflection between sides.
Drom
The second half was closer as Doon had their work done after 4 minutes. Adare miles off the big 3
Itâs a game of opinions. Gap between sides is closing. Take a year or two time to see this.
Adare are miles off the top 5, never mind the top 3.
No, the game was well over and Doon were already thinking of the semi as they were emptying their bench. They hit 15 wides as well.Adare were well off it and will be for a while as they have had nothing coming through for years now.
Didnt they have a decent minor team this year- Got to county semi final I think
Adares best team that included bringing on a 42, 36 and 34 year old
They had a good team this year but realistically now a team needs to have about 4/5 of them in a row to be realistic challengers to the top 3 in time - Ă la M&M
A fine Limerick woman here. I think her maiden name is Quaid.
Need to be doing a bit more than that and over a good number of years to even dream of being a contender.
I know that, but most good teams start with one good team and build around it. Takes time but at least they have something coming .
Look how many strong underage teams Monaleen and Mungret have had for the last ten years just to get to the stage where their senior teams are competing at quarter final level. Theyâve been the top two teams at underage consistently for a long time and theyâre still nowhere near success at adult level. One decent minor team is a flash in the pan, if even that.
I think it does depend on a few factors.
The standard of the middle teams has got higher and higher but itâs probably fair to say that the top teams probably arenât quite as good as Na Piarsaigh at their absolute peak.
Strong minor teams are grand and a few can make you a decent senior side but to win a county now, you need a handful of truly elite players.
Doon had loads of minor teams and went close but, in the end, what they needed was one top, top forward to join the quality they had across the pitch. Adam English was that difference-maker in the end.
Similarly with the Well; it was the rise of Lynch & Gillane from the same minor team that kicked them on in 2016 to win the county.
Donât know if Monaleen or Mungret have that player yet. ĂâDĂĄlaigh has been racking up big tallies over the past few years to be fair and Liam Lynch has been really good this year but theyâre obviously not on the level of a Gillane, English, Tom, SOB, AOC yet.
So, for Adare, or any other club; having a decent minor team is fine but if you get lucky and have a minor team that is producing a handful of truly top, top players on top of a decent foundation; you never know.
