The footballers have punched well above their weight for the past few years, but they are probably similar to the likes of a Drom/Broadford, they produced a serious crop of players at once but it’s pretty much impossible for us to continuously produce players at that level.
The like of the early 2000 team didn’t get produced by any great system or academy, it was mainly just luck and a few astute coachs. This doesn’t excuse the chronic lack of investment in football over the past 20 years, but that period at senior was a freak in terms of competitiveness at senior football.
Is the football academy still going or has it fallen away?
