I see Tom Morrissey is getting a lot of praise here, it’s fully deserved.
Like others I thought he might struggle to make the panel this year, he looked like a player who was regressing and had hit his peak as a 17 or 18 year old. His best attribute was taking a point when he had the ball in hand, he was always a good man to hit 4 or 5 points against weaker opposition but I didn’t think he had the speed or workrate to make it at the top level, I often got the impression that he was standing back from play a bit and wasn’t getting fully stuck into tackles.
But he has gone from strength to strength this year. He has totally changed his style of play. He is a great link man and delivers great ball to the full forward line. The most impressive thing has been his work rate. He hit a lot of wides in the league and early part of the championship but his accuracy has improved and he’s now a serious scoring threat. Hope he keeps it going for the next three games, he’s probably been our most consistent hurler this year

I’m surprised that Kiely isn’t a bit more ruthless. Hickey has had his day and there was a place for him at one time on the panel, but alas no more. Bringing him on, even against Carlow, is a mistake.

He can play multiple positions and has massive experience at this level, being there since he was 18. I would say it’s a very fine decision having him on the panel at least this year.

Aye. He seems to be well passed his prime. But if you remember, he did something similar with Gavin O’Mahony last year.

Agree with all that. He has become one of the first names on the teamsheet Tom Morrissey. I was worried also after he’d a really poor year at U21 if he was gone but he has come back to form and then some.

He did. Tough on Hickey but the panel is what comes first. Sentimentality has no place at this level of sport, despite what Smarky thinks.

We have previous letting lads hang on passed their sell by date. We’ve a panel now where we shouldn’t have to.

Kiely has already said he won’t change the panel now, not even to replace brown

Would you don’t be replying to that fool he has had it in for hickey since Justin McCarthy. He’s posted the same about Hickey about 8 times this week trying to get someone to reply to the desperate little manín.

Touche. Your meanderings about The Dow playing at all costs even at the expense of better players is symptomatic of the attitude that prevails in your club. You’d think that NaP were winning All-Irelands and county titles for years. If Kilmallock or The Well or any other club for that matter had your numbers to pick from, basically an entire city, you wouldn’t even be in the reckoning.

Finally won the league last night, 7 wins from 7, scraped over the line against our old friends Glenroe.

Took us long enough, been trying to get out of that division almost as long as Limerick were trying to get out of 1B.

Nothing in particular, although I wouldn’t mind hearing what the Football Review Group have come up with.

After the underage results at the weekend i’d say they have nothing to put forward
