There are 4 contenders for the Lk SHC . Two real heavyweights , the well have a punchers chance. Doon on a given day can bother anyone but questions persist . Adare and Ballybrown below these . There isnt a huge gap between any of the premier intermediate teams and senior teams outside the big four .
It was brought in because of the amount of turkey shoots last year
If they canāt handle the heat fuck em out of the kitchen
An 8-team SHC in the same format as the PIHC would be the best model as the quality of senior teams is just not there.
Not a hope of it happening, though. Clubs would never vote it in.
We are down to 12 now rather than 16 a few years ago. To be fair the new system is ok IMO. Realistically in most counties you will only have 3/4 realistic contenders no matter what the format is.
Tbf I think weāve three seriously good club teams in limerick Pwell, nap and killmalock. It wouldnāt surprise me if any of the three won a munster this year. Doon arenāt miles off their standard either but they are yet to make the big break through. Adare and ballybrown are good senior teams and would hold their own in most senior championships imo. Itās difficult for clubs to come up to the level of the big three at the moment but I donāt think we should simply rip our championship up because thereās three or four exceptional teams in it. The likes of mungret, ahane, monaleen and garryspillane all have the numbers underage to reach a similar level. That should be the aim.
If the intercounty format stays the same, I nearly think theyāll change the Premier format⦠A lot of games to squeeze in.
If you reduced senior down to 8, you could have two groups of 6 in the premier which might help.
In fact, it should just be called intermediate. The 3rd tier should be junior.
What about the Specials?

Very bad this week. 5 draws and I predicted none.
Bruff lost by 6 after being up by 8 at half-time, and Liberties will be very disappointed losing to Monaleen.
And relegate all the West Clubs to Junior B, you must be off the head?! Itās Box Office back there!
The West Junior A hurling championship will outlive us all.
Itās basically the format that the All Ireland is now ran on! Box. Office.
I just threw on the final again. Jesus Hayes fourth point is amazing. Quaid short to tom morrissey who booms it down to seamus Flanagan. Some Galway Muldoon tried to break his hand but he still wins it and lays it off to the the kyler who throws it over the bar. Unreal.
May it never die.
That beautiful drilled pass to Mulcahy for his goal was sublime too.
What a man, what a player, what a year.
Outside of the final and Pat Simon lobbing Nash, his equaliser below in Cork was my moment of the year.
God,
While the matches provided unbelievable satisfaction for me I think most of the stand out moments for me are of a personal nature.
My fathers pure joy after the final whistle against Kilkenny was actually the moment for me. Iāve never seen him as happy. Like a peacock walking out of Thurles and relishing the drive home to Kilkenny. I think that was almost (I stress almost) a better feeling for him than the final.
Iāll do a detailed top ten moments of our all conquering year some night before Christmas after a feed of pints.
I expect myself getting thrown out of PUC for flares and getting sick in Coppers the night before the semi final and the final to be the hounourable mentions that didnāt make the cut for the top 10
I didnāt realise Mulcahy got 3-16 from play in the championship.
Class.
