Limerick GAA - All-Ireland senior hurling champions 2018

That Limerick team wouldnā€™t strike fear into anyone but Tipp are missing a few of their best players, I think we have enough to do it.

The footballers must still be checking who they have

Look, that is a very strong team; I would say our strongest available to be honest.

As expected really, apart from Darragh Oā€™Donovan in for Browne but I think heā€™s an excellent hurler, big engine, smart, very good player to go in alongside Lynch.

I thought there might be one more forward on the bench than there is- Nash not there is surprising, Iā€™m guessing he might be injured?

But otherwise, as expected, and a team well capable of beating Tipp.

I suppose the talk from a long way out was the likes of Callanan wouldnā€™t make it. Seamus Kennedy at full-back is an interesting one; Hamill & Barry both played there during the League, I donā€™t remember Kennedy playing there. And two debutants at midfield.

They have a ridiculously strong bench with Bonner, Callanan, Brendan Maher, Barry, Breen. But if they were fully fit, the first 3 would surely be starting.

I think dropping Nash and Hickey are the only two Iā€™d strongly disagree with. I just hope Hickey proves me wrong. Iā€™d say Nash is a lazy bastard in training, heā€™s a lazy bastard in matches most of the time but Iā€™d have him as an option on the bench all day

Iā€™d say theyā€™re getting the money down on Clare to cover the handicap before the team is named!

Football team not being released until lunch time tomorrow, for some reason.

Iā€™ve had a few quid on Clare -4 at 5/6.

I stuck 100 on minus 2 @ 10/1

Youā€™d have to be quietly confident looking at both teams. Personally, I would have Downes and Nash on the bench. Obviously I donā€™t know how they are going in training or if there are injuries. But while you mightnā€™t be able to put your house on either delivering, they have a bit of an x factor and if you are chasing a game and are looking for goals they both bring size and serious potential. With Reidy and Murphy you probably know what you are going to get but are they game changers, I donā€™t think so. Dowling and Dempsey both very likely to feature in the forwards at some stage now and I think both will add a different dynamic. Pat Simon also likely to see game time if the game opens up a little.
Hope our full back line stands up to them as their danger is in the inside three.
Tipp team isnā€™t frightening. I actually think Brendan Maher not playing doesnā€™t weaken them, heā€™s a lot of hurling done at this stage and I always thought he was a bit over rated. Callanan is a major plus for them though to spring from the bench.
I think weā€™ll hit the fuckers hard, Hegarty who has improved immensely this year for man of the match and that weā€™ll scrape through against Tipp and Cork will edge it over Clare.
Then Cork come to thurles next week with momentum, mick Ryan makes a lot of changes after their narrow loss to us and Cork take the fuckers. So Tipp in serious bother then with two losses.
Limerick then, after a weeks rest, travel to Cork who have a six day turn around from a huge game against Tipp and face their third game in 13 days and they burn out in the second half and we win that.
Obviously, those predictions could be total horse shit but I think we have a good fall of fixtures. Other prediction for this championship is that Mike Casey will win his place back in the full back line. In mind heā€™s the unluckiest of the Na Piarsaigh players

Lar Corbett on the GAA podcast says English is the weak link in the limerick full back line and heā€™s looking forward to see who goes in on him and how they target him.

Last time tipp played limerick bubbles got himself sent of trying to bully English.

Either way lar Corbett is a massive simpleton that struggles to speak coherently.

Lar was a great player, but heā€™s an idiot.

Whoever is marking John McGrath will have a tough time of it, but English will be fine.
