Limerick GAA - Box Office

Im thrilled to see Dec Hannon named at 6.

Hickey is in great form…and Dan will have 2 ft on his marker so its a strong half back line.

That was Kielys platform for the 21s in 15.

We’re going to win.

Can you fire up the subs list?

We need to be quicker to use it though then we have been throughout the league.

Its a 18/19 man game nowadays.

Poor Limerick team

Glad to see he has made it but full forward? Surely Dowling and himself will swap? A 19 year old full forward doesn’t sound right no matter how talented he is.

They haven’t swapped them so far.

I reckon they’ll all move around in the forwards pal…be as fluid as possible.

The quality of ball been delivered into them will be key.

Not good enough

  • Finn ahead of English is a big call, but both Richie Mc and Casey have looked very solid all year.
  • Half back line are all big units. Hope Hannon is fit and able, he has the potential to completely stretch a defence with intelligent ball forward. Big chance for Morrissey.
  • Serious experience in midfield, we can physically blow Clare out of it here, but have we the legs?
  • Half forward line all good in the air but concerns on workrate.
  • Fairly light full-forward line, but at the same time we are not playing Galway. We know what to expect from Hayes and Mulcahy, Casey is the unknown, great prospect if he hits the ground running and this kind of game might suit him.

Hayes has put some of the senior, more experienced squad members to shame this year with his work ethic and willingness to get stuck in.

You’re guaranteed a gutsy effort from the lad. He’s still pretty much an unknown quantity to non 1B hurling fans so he might surprise a few people. Well able to take a score too.

If the other 4/5 nominated forwards hassle and harry the fuck out of their markers as much as this fella we’ll be in business.

Anyway the match won’t be decided on the performance of an 18 year old making his debut. Time for the likes of Lynch, Dowling etc to step up and impose themselves on matches like this.

Hayes and Hego were the two real success stories from the league,

Both would have started if fit and rightly so…heart and fight is half the battle pal.

I have no doubt he will give everything on the day but at full forward you need a good bit of experience. I would rather him out on the wing with a bit of space to operate, that’s all. He will eventually end up at centre back .

Why has Finn ousted Richie English? I don’t like that call. I’ve never felt Dan Morrissey was good enough to start at this level. Hannon has question marks over health, is he 100%? Hickey marking Tony Kelly? I think our HB line could get utterly roasted on those match ups. Our midfield will they have the legs for their markers? In the forwards two young fellas out of minor are thrust into the fire. Peter Casey has not done enough (yet) to start for me. McEnerney at full back will be too wily for Hayes I feel who while willing is green and not a natural full forward.

Clare comfortably.

Hayes isn’t a natural full-forward but he is a class act, a top top hurler and will cause Clare’s defence serious problems. He’s very very good in the air and he will work his socks off all day. Fuck Adare…

If there was one change I’d make, it would be Nash for Dempsey but Dempsey is a fine hurler and Kiely obviously has faith in him. I think Casey is a bit of an unknown quantity at this level and could cause havoc, while Nash/Morrissey/Colin Ryan are 3 impact subs which could actually make a difference.

Sean Finn & Dan Morrissey must be going very well to have earned their spots because they wouldn’t have the profile of English & Gavin respectively. I think it might be a bit harsh on English, in particular, who you could argue is better than all 3 of the full-back line but form prevails and Kiely is the man to make that call. I wouldn’t have any worries about Finn anyway, fine corner-back.

We’ll bate the fuckers, don’t worry about that. Yuuuurt.
