The limerick hurling team should watch the video of the manager of Sheffield discus Liverpool last night. Time to put the clip boards, ear pieces and all the other bullshit back into the bin. The basis of all good teams is honesty, humility and hard work. Hurling is a simple game. Don’t over complicate it. Cody won games with weakish sides by working really really hard. If limerick can get that tempo back to their games from the off they’ll have serious prospects this year.

I dunno will you catch any bite with that one pal

He didn’t throw them very far

I’m correct we’d a band of fellas on the sideline stumped by Kilkennys simple tactic of crowding our half back line and forcing us play short. We’d no answer. How many hours of training do the squad and these fellas on the sideline put in only to be stumped by an extremely basic tactic. It makes you wonder what they are doing at training.

Not too dissimilar to Wexford v Tipperary. When Wexford has the extra man their puck outs went to pot. Too many fellas on the side line deciding what to do instead of having clarity on the field and keeping things simple.

Limerick had up on twenty wides the same day. Many of them very bad.

The only mistake made that day was putting Hannon out on the field.

6 of those wides were crinimal. Limerick dominated 50 mins of the game, just couldnt translate it to the score board.

Limerick were a vastly superior team. We still should have won but our inability to react to simple tactics was awful.

It took 20 minutes to get Hannon out of the half back line, after that we were 10 points down. The chap was fucked

That’s the long and short of it.

We underperformed, Kilkenny were better on the day.

For 20 minutes we did, while effectively down to 14. From there on we outscored them by 9 points.

This just highlights your complete lack of understanding of the game. Winning and losing is irrelevant when analysing the pattern of the game. Kilkenny totally disrupted our game plan. Limericks sideline had no answer. We were still good enough to stay in position to almost to win the game but we were also vastly superior to them. The fact we managed to get so close while being tactically out thought by an average side makes it worse.

This isnt true. Hannon Stayed on until half time. We were three down as Kyle man marked Reid. Limerick subbed off Hannon and changed it up putting Kyle back into the half forward line. We lost by one.

We were 9 points down after 20 minutes, at that time Kyle Hayes went to the half back line. We outscored them by 6 points to half time to go in a goal down.

We outscored them by 8 points in 50 minutes of hurling. I was out by a point.

You’re the one saying hurling as a simple game. It doesnt get more simple than that

Yet the fellas on the side line decided to take like Hayes out of the position he was clearly playing well in.

There were many ways we could have won that game. Gotten tactics right earlier, Hannon off the pitch earlier, Dowling taking the long range frees Byrnes put wide, getting the 65 call. But at the end of the day we played beneath our capabilities and hit a heap of bad wides. If you don’t perform you don’t deserve to win and we didn’t deserve to win that game.

They are very different examples. Getting tactics right and reacting to tactics is completely different to timing of the subs or that. We didn’t perform for a reason. The reason being Kilkenny had a simple tactic and we had no answer for it.

We did have an answer and outscored them by 8 points when we answered it
