I presume the head honchos will be all out to get Davy Fitz, heād have a great way with 14 year olds running them around southhill to toughen them up. Its an opportunity to rethink the academy strategy and see what can be changed, it really needs 2 people, a coordinator going around the underage clubs, esp. the west, to help out with recruiting youngsters, coaches etc. as well as someone to actually bring the county 14 to 17 yo groups along.

It should have been either senior gig or nothing for Daly. Heād no experience of developing structures or coaching kids, most of whom only knew him from tv. Has he actually achieved anything long lasting during his stintā¦?
The game is in a mess throughout the county. In west Limerick it has gone to the dogs. The city is still a wastelands outside Na Piarsaigh - and even they are reputedly struggling for numbers at young age groups now.
Iād love to see a really driven passionate person appointed with complete autonomy to oversee a root and branch review and overhaul. Someone not beholden to any of the CB. Fuck all chance of that happening, mind.

While obviously the county board needs to help clubs a lot more, the clubs themselves need to step up too. No games development officer is going to save clubs that wonāt help themselves

I remember I was at some sort of city under 12 trial in primary school. Tom took the training session. After about 20 minutes he told us all we were bunch of cowards and our clubs were screwed if we were the best they had to offer.
