A Kildimo man wouldnât know a decent pitch anyways.
what?
Ah???
It will be interesting to see if Stephen Cahill is part of the 21 hurling squad his year.
Newcastle West from what I remember is kip of a pitch and a kip of town. Its inhabitants are inbred.
Two out of three.
Sad but true. There are a number of derelict buildings in the town. The former Cahills hardware. The former best pub in town, OâRourkes. The Post Office. Iron Mikeâs smoking hut does the job. Better to wait until closing and light up inside. The goals cut up bad but there is an underground spring under the pitch. That fed the well that fed the brewery in the old days.
Who is trading as the Old Stand bar, the 41?
I dont know.
Either way all local bull shit aside the footballers should always play in newcastle or somewhere in west limerick. Iâd say 85 percent of players and fans are from that neck of the woods. The rest of the county doesnât give a damn about football and it would be a small gesture by the county board to show theyâve a small interest in the game.
Indeed.
But Spike wouldnât be able to ingratiate himself to his local club.
Havenât shied away there. Even managed to cut a few whoâve never played a game of any description and one who hasnât even been involved with the panel.
Only one of those players (Tommy OâBrien) is gone at this point in time, and he withdrew of his own volition.
That said, Iâd expect quite a few of those named to follow.
I think that was the list he was proposing to cut. Cutting lads before theyâve ever even been on the panel is hardcore.
They deserved it. The Limerick way.
I was picking the squad Iâd select. Those are the names on the training panel id let go.
Hegarty, Riordan, OâRourke and Reidy havenât got a look in yet. Hard to judge fellas if you dont play them. Makes sense to play Seamie Hickey, Tom Condon and other definite members of the panel in pre season games thoughâŚ
If the lads named above are not good enough then so be it. But its fairly shitty to ask them into the panel and never give them a proper go at it before discarding them.
Youâd find out more at training than those meaningless friendly games.
The Clare game the last night was more competitive than every other league game theyâll have bar Wexford & Clare ffs. It was the ideal opportunity to see what those lads were capable of.
