Sad but true. There are a number of derelict buildings in the town. The former Cahills hardware. The former best pub in town, O’Rourkes. The Post Office. Iron Mike’s smoking hut does the job. Better to wait until closing and light up inside. The goals cut up bad but there is an underground spring under the pitch. That fed the well that fed the brewery in the old days.

Either way all local bull shit aside the footballers should always play in newcastle or somewhere in west limerick. I’d say 85 percent of players and fans are from that neck of the woods. The rest of the county doesn’t give a damn about football and it would be a small gesture by the county board to show they’ve a small interest in the game.

Haven’t shied away there. Even managed to cut a few who’ve never played a game of any description and one who hasn’t even been involved with the panel.

Only one of those players (Tommy O’Brien) is gone at this point in time, and he withdrew of his own volition.

That said, I’d expect quite a few of those named to follow.

Hegarty, Riordan, O’Rourke and Reidy haven’t got a look in yet. Hard to judge fellas if you dont play them. Makes sense to play Seamie Hickey, Tom Condon and other definite members of the panel in pre season games though…

If the lads named above are not good enough then so be it. But its fairly shitty to ask them into the panel and never give them a proper go at it before discarding them.

The Clare game the last night was more competitive than every other league game they’ll have bar Wexford & Clare ffs. It was the ideal opportunity to see what those lads were capable of.
