Limerick GAA, Still Getting Knocked Down

Itā€™s about perception and thatā€™s about the size of itā€¦ Davy standing out from the pack.

They donā€™t do it for 5 consecutive years though successfully pal, 2 max.

Exactly.

Limerick team.

Whatā€™s the point when your auld lad is in charge of the county board.

Iā€™m sure that bullshit doesnā€™t bother genuine contenders for the AI.

If they are starting Byrnes 6 he has to leave him there for the whole of the league no matter how he goes tomorrowā€¦

My only real gripe with that team named is Gavin center forward.

Donā€™t see him being an option there come championship, Iā€™d have him starting all day when fit at 5 or 7.

Iā€™d agree with the sentiment up to a point alright. Hickey is awful half back.

Weā€™ll struggle to win tomorrow with that team.

Agreed.

Just goes to show the strength and depth on paper we have now even without the Caherdavin lads.

Like the look of that team, should dispatch of Wexford handy enough.

Disagree pal

We will win pulling up.

I donā€™t think itā€™s a bad team really.

Quaid is our best option in goal.

Probably our best full-back line available.

Half-back is where the questions are and have been for a while, but what are the alternatives? They seem set on Byrnes at 6, Hickey seems to be undroppable- if he finds form, heā€™ll be an asset. Morrissey or Oā€™Connell are better options than Paudie, Iā€™d say and at least heā€™s trying something.

Wouldnā€™t be a fan of Fitzgibbon at midfield when Oā€™Donovan and the two Ryans are available.

Gavin in the forwards also seems to be the plan, and he is a nice link player there. Do we lack ballwinners? Probablyā€¦ but again, where are the alternatives? Nash or Morrissey, in time, will be able to add a bit of strength to the half-forward line.

At least 6 players playing out of position. Two morrisseys are too slow for there positions. Better at 3 and 6 imo. Hickey hopeless halfback. Lynch would be better at 11. Gavin in the half backs, hannon in the half forward line.

Why isnā€™t Seanie Oā€™Brien in that team? Preferably in midfield for Fitzgibbon or at 5 or 2. Is he injured or something?

There were lads arguing earlier here about putting Tobin on the frees. Would agree if he is on the pitch he is best option for that or at least worth a try, but there was a post a few weeks ago saying heā€™d been dropped? And that P Oā€™Brien was gone too. So which is it?

Is Seanie Oā€™Brien injured? Ditto Darragh Oā€™Donovan?

Need to leave Oā€™Mahony centre forward for the year now. He gave an exhibition against Waterford in the first round of the league last year but as soon as his club commitments were over he was shifted back to defence. Heā€™s one of the main leaders in the squad now.

I think if Chin lines out at midfield he could bully us. Jim Bob ainā€™t everyoneā€™s cup of tea but you know heā€™ll work his bollocks off. Iā€™m still very unsure about John Fitz to be honest. David Reidy can be a real mixed bag. That half backline has questions over it too.

Win or bust really in the first game of the league. Perfectly poised for a wexican ambush.

Tobin is still on the panel as is Paudie o Brien. From the original panel only Tom o Brien is gone. Iā€™ll have the subs sent to me soon enough.

Iā€™d agree with you re Gavin, but overall considering the Nap lads unavailable itā€™s not a bad team, and should have enough to beat Wexford at home, in a competition that we are seriously targeting this year.

Fitzgibbon deserves a shot in the league, got that crucial winner against Clare last year, never really got a fair go, does stand out for Adare in the club championship.

Tom M, Hannon and Barry Nash is a very dangerous FF line, and Cian and David Reidy are well capable of winning puckouts.

Iā€™m happy enough with it, and on paper itā€™s a savage FB line.
