Limerick GAA, Still Getting Knocked Down

I normally head into the ardhu before the games with a few alright sorts, youā€™re more then welcome to join us pal.

If itā€™s not looking to fight forum fellow members you want to meet them for drinks!

I will have to pass on that though as i have already agreed to accompany @Bandage for the match if i enter the area alone.

I donā€™t think Paudie has the work-rate for midfield tbh. It has been proved time and time again that he is not a defender. I think wing-forward is his only hope, heā€™s not bad in the air, has the knack of getting himself into space and you can depend on him to do the simple thing and put it over the bar when he does. I think he will struggle to get near the starting 15 though.

What the fuck would people from west limerick know about hurling.

Iā€™m at home in Cork.

And I am just about to go in to town for the market. We miss your presence and the big bag of olives

Ask for Jeanā€¦ Tell her Rob sent youā€¦youā€™ll be sorted.

Elton? Is the pub open there?

I sure hope so, have lifts and a bed for the night organised. Will report back

He is a brilliant striker of the ball and great at taking scores from distance. I think itā€™s because of this he is no use at delivering ball to the forwards, heā€™s more used to firing it over the bar than giving a pass. Heā€™s too weak for wing back, he doesnā€™t work hard enough or cover enough ground for midfield and we have a rake of better options for half forward. A sub midfielder for me if heā€™s to get in at all.

How come some lads say Oā€™Connell is not good enough for 6 but want to see Byrnes tried there? Oā€™Connell was 6 for the 21s with Byrnes on the wing.

I agree with @anon59781749 that he would most likely only work as a deep sitting centre back, like he did for the 21s. He made countless crucial tackles and interceptions due to his excellent reading of the game and his range of passing out of defence is arguably the best of anyone on the panel.

The thing is, this is exactly the type of set up we should be playing because it suits the personnel we have. Cian Lynch should be allowed the same free role he was for the 21s, allows the mids to cover the half backs a bit more, and allows the 6 to sit back.

We also have plenty of good sub midfielders which we should make use of and allow our mids to run themselves to standstill, and a good range of forwards who are strong enough to hold their own in a 5 man forward unit.

That is very true but on the other hand I thought last week the one lesson we learned from the nap game is that dowling can only play at 14 and not in the half forward line. You need either dowling or ronan lynch for frees so is hannon playing at 14 the wisest move? Or is this an indication dowling isnā€™t going to be starting possibly? Anther point is dowling at 14 is well suited(probably the only forward) to teeges whack it long and high policy heā€™d probably suffer more than most if we changed our tactics to a low ball and creating space style as this does not suit his style.

Was it yourself was one of the lads wanted Dowling at wing forward before? I think it was. Anyway, youā€™re right, heā€™s full forward. Heā€™s able to win ball other than up high though, heā€™s plenty quick over the first few yards to get out in front of a full back and heā€™s one of the better players to spot a pass off to a player in space after heā€™s won the ball. If thereā€™s players in space around him heā€™s a better provider than Hannon.

No I donā€™t think I did I said it was the fittest Iā€™d seen him. He does have good awareness alright his problem is turning etc etc. Iā€™d prefer him at 14 than hannon as long as he is utilised correctly.

Chin will go through our midfield like a bulldozer

Chin is finished, pal.

Mental breakdown?
