Limerick GAA, Still Getting Knocked Down

That is a good comparison to last years opening league team. A bit of progress alright!

Richie Mac looked good when he came on against Clare, he was sharp and really revelled in the sort of loose sweeper role he was deployed in.

Oā€™Connell is not good enough for 5 or 6.

Tom Morrissey and Nash you can hit them in any bit of dirty ball and they will win as much as the corner back, something that could not be said about our corner forward options in a long time. Nash is a corner forward but donā€™t think it is making the best use of Morrissey, hopefully he can play well there as would like him in the team and he will not make full or centre forward yet.

That is a farcical article.

Morrisseys best position is 14. boc best hurling has been at 3.

Yes i would prefer him as a candidate for full back because he will be destroyed for Limerick seniors at 5 or 6. Who has he played 3 for? Pallaskenry or the 21s?

I would disagree and say that Morrisseyā€™s best position would be centre-forward. Someone said on one of the threads that he reminded them of Bonnar Maher, I would go along with that, a real-workhorse.

Limerick intermediates and minors. He plays full forward for club. The only future he has in the half back line is as a sweeper he is good reader of play.

Jesus I donā€™t see that at all lacks any pace but has a goal threat.

Ard scoil ris as well.

I would agree with @anon59781749 that full forward is his best position as he does indeed pose a real goal threat, and the ball can be hit in scrappy but preferably low and he will come away with his fair share. But for centre forward he is also a real option as he was brilliant there for the 21s one time i saw him, the final at least v Wexford but iā€™m sure i have seen him play well there another time. Good reader of the game and really good at making a bit of space for himself, then has that direct style of running when he gets the ball in hand he can ride a tackle while retaining possession. But Bonnar Maher he is not, he is a small chap compared to Bonnar. Would be surprised if he is 6 foot? Great option though and it is on record i am a signed up Tom Morrissey fan.

he is 6-1+
An odd running style makes him look smaller

First 15-20 mins is always crucial but especially against a side like Wexford if they are within a couple of points or leading they will fight like dogs until the end and you need to rely on their wayward shooting, get on top of them early and build a lead and they fold like a deck chair in a hurricane.

Think it was the Clare game for the U21s he was having no luck inside on the square but when moved out to 11 he absolutely broke their hearts. I wouldnā€™t be overly convinced on what Iā€™ve seen of him on the inside line, even for the goal he got against Galway he rode his luck a bit, but he will go through a wall for you and thatā€™s worth plenty.

Informative. Thatā€™s all the better. He really does look smaller though than that when he runs and he doesnā€™t even crunch up when you think about it, he has his head in the air.

Surprising and disappointing to see only a paltry 85 posts on this thread in the last six hours (on a night when the Late Late show took certain stage) discussing team selections the night before Rd 1 of Div 1B of the national league.

And we havenā€™t even gotten onto discussing tictacs yet. I think someone mentioned a third-midfielder at some point but it was quickly shut down. Layve it in long.

Iā€™m delighted Byrnes is getting his shot at 6, the team named has more then enough to bate Wexford tomorrow night,

They canā€™t and wonā€™t be taken lightly. Saying that we are Limerick and we are and always were a superior force in the greatest game in the world then those strawberry picking bastards,

Everytime we play them 96 should be used as ammo, fucking cunts!!!

so who is attending the big game tomorrow night (aside from @bandage) ? I wont be there as I am going to a 21st party in Elton

Itā€™s on Setanta so Iā€™m going to be there and watch it back on Sunday.

@ciarancareyshurlingarmy Elton???

Iā€™m hoping to go if i can convince some cunt or other to attend with me. Most cunts are tied up with Valentines it seems. Will watch on the box otherwise which is not the worst compromise.
