If you canāt jab lift on the first go just pull on the fucking thing as hard as you canā¦
The line-up against the Biffos will tell a lot if anything has really changed. If we go with a near-identical 15 again then you know the year is a write-off.
Offaly have being lowering the blade nicely of late, 3 sent off in 2 games so far. They were a dab hand at getting opponents sent off last year and we canāt afford to be playing whole matches with 14 men. Any flaking of fat arses should be confined to the last 5-10 minutes. Get your retaliation in late, and hard.
Shaughs is one of the nicest fellas you could meet. Some dinger in his day. To think he is only 31/32 is scary. An awful affliction. He had some year in 2007. I remember playing against him at underage and schools and he was unmarkable. Often double marked and would still do wreck.
We had three lads sent off trying to mark him in a minor final one year. Things got so desperate a 14 year old @Julio_Geordio who was only along for the jolly was sprung from the bench due to the lack of backs left.
I only marked him the once. He was moved off me.* The relief was immense. Absolute ridiculous display when he beat us on his own scoring 4-9 in a minor final.
*the switch may or may not have been more due to moving him out wing forward to get him on more ball than the pacey corner back putting the shackles on him, I guess weāll never know.
I remember the day he scored the 4-9 in the Minor Final. An awesome second half display. He hadnāt done much in the first half at all and as far as I recall the stand rose in a rousing cheer for the Na Piarsaigh team, and especially his marker, as they came in under the tunnel in the Gaelic Grounds. By Jesus did he answer them in the second half, it was like a hurricane inside corner forward!
One of the best Harty cup hurlers Iāve ever seen anyway, possibly only surpassed by Neil Ronan, both had relatively .modest senior inter county careers from what was promised.
Shaughās was the main reason we won those 3 21 AIās.
What a player, and an absolute gentleman off the field. Was at a wedding a couple of years ago sitting beside his parents, nicer people you would not meet.
Iām glad his doing great in his family and professional life. One of the greatest talents Limerick hurling every produced.
