Limerick GAA, Still Getting Knocked Down

I think he was chief.

Yes he was.

Not sure how much he played but he was on the panel at 16.

Shaughs was the best underage player I’ve ever seen in Limerick. I don’t think anybody even comes close. As somebody described earlier he was like a hurricane.

The year we played Tipp in the Munster u-21 final in Thurles.

Injury time, four points down. O’Shaughnessy scores a gem of a goal, roasts the corner back and buries it. Pat Tobin fired over a last gasp equaliser from underneath the stand in about the fourth minute of injury time.

Think we went on to beat them in the replay. Good times :ronnyroar:

My older brother left just before the goal to get the front seat in the car for the home journey. It still rankles with him today.

I hope he learned his lesson. I hate cunts who leave games early.

I hate to admit it but I left 5 minutes before the end of the semi v clare. I couldn’t stomach it.

I took the medicine after the full time whistle the yahoos still haunt me but it makes beating them since all the sweeter.

That was much easier. There was no hope/expectation going up that day.

I think he came on with a couple of minutes remaining in the 00 final at age 16 if memory serves me right.

He was unreal for us at Senior in 2007. When you look back on his display v Waterford in the Semi, he took them apart. Brilliant v Tipp in the trilogy games aswell. His early years were on a poor Limerick side but he still was our best forward. Superb debut in 03 v Waterford in the famous drawn game that was never televised/recorded. 06 v Tipp he was excellent aswell, scored a cracker of a goal minutes into the game.

Best goal I have ever seen live was the first one he scored in the 02 U21 Final v Galway.

Didn’t he destroy Ringo Kearney that day and they were good pals?

Was his debut you against Waterford the same day Albert shanahan was in goals and Shaughs scored the goal with the ground stroke?

Mullane hand passed the ball into the net for a disallowed goal that day - completely lost the plot forgot what he was at

The game that wasn’t televised?

Correct, gave him an awful roasting

Shaughs came on as a sub in the 2001 Final v Wexford. Starred in the 02 campaign.

Now this is interesting…

Limerick GAA could be on the lookout for a new treasurer after a management meeting tonight.

The Examiner is reporting that Donal Morrissey has threatened to quit the role in a dispute over the proposed reappointment of Mike O’Riordan as secretary.

Back in 2009, O’Riordan was appointed as the county’s first full-time secretary and his seven year term is coming to an end.

It is reported that Morrissey is not happy with the procedures surrounding plans to extend O’Riordan’s tenure.

Apparently, he is unhappy that the position wasn’t advertised publicly and he will let his feelings be known at a management committee meeting which is scheduled to take place at Munster GAA HQ in Castletroy tonight.
