I had live 95fm on for the last 10 minutes of the game and Liam Aherne mentioned him a couple of times

That was Gearoid Hegarty.

That muppet Ahern on the radio kept calling him Phelan.

That would explain it.
The Scanlon frees were crucial alright but I was wondering how he started at all. In fairness to Donal Sullivan, he was solid all through the league and did nothing wrong against Tipp. Was it Scanlon’s ability to kick the frees that gave him the nod I wonder?

Boris was probably our best player against Tipp but he paid the price for fucking off to Spain with Mullane the week before last and missing a heap of training. At least he was introduced when needed. Pa Ranahan was solid and should never have been left out the first day. Ian Ryan was excellent.

Jamie Lee has been motoring well lately and his addition to the panel was certainly to the detriment of the juniors who would now arguably be in a Munster final if they’d had him below in Cork.
Jamie Lee was introduced off the bench late on yesterday. Certain people very unhappy that he was drafted in so late with the seniors, he kicked 5 or 6 points against Tipp in the junior match so it’s not an exaggeration to say he could have made the difference against Cork last night.

As for the goalkeeping situation O’Sullivan was excellent in the league but he can struggle under the highball at times. The first goal against Tipp was probably a mistake on his part, unfortunately, and he paid the price. In a tight game like yesterday two long distance pointed frees were crucial.

The football management need to work out where to play Ger Collins. He scored one brilliant point running from deep in the opening half. Boris and Ian Ryan inside are both strong enough to win their own ball. Mind you Killian Phair did well on his championship debut and kicked two good points. Keep the three of them inside and give Collins a free role in the half forward line?

We’re slowly finding our best championship team and would expect us to be better again the next day. All about the draw now.

Good idea on Collins and the forward line. What is the best midfield? Start Galvin with lee and have to take both off?

Went to the match but took the chance because I was on call and five minutes into the fucking match I had to leave. Was forced to listen on the wireless and the Voice of Limerick GAA. Utterly fucking useless. And fake.

Niall and Ollie Moran
Niall Moran is back in training with the Limerick hurlers ahead of the Munster final against Cork on July 13.

The 31-year-old Ahane attacker, who announced his inter-county retirement last December after finally getting his hands on a coveted Munster medal after a decade of trying, has re-joined TJ Ryan’s squad, although not in an official capacity according to his brother and former county star Ollie Moran.

“With Niall you never know,” Ollie told hoganstand.com

"From talking to him, he’s very non-committal (about going back full-time). From what I can gather, he’s part of the training panel and was with them for a challenge against Waterford last week.

“I don’t see him featuring against Cork, but you’d never know what role TJ has in mind for him. Maybe he’s looking at the bigger picture.”

Used as an impact sub by former manager John Allen last year, Niall has made 44 senior championship appearances for Limerick - four shy of Mark Foley’s record - and it remains to be seen if he will close the gap on the Adare clubman before the season is out.

I was never a massive fan of his but we are lacking scoring options off the bench, a decent option for the last 5 - 10 mins. Still only 31 and always kept himself fairly fit so I presume it wouldn’t take him too long to find his stride.

Exactly, he’ll batter Cork. Limerick by 7.

Can’t see us beaten, Limerick by 9

Is he being driven to training in the boot of a car?

bit of a kick in the teeth to lads training since Winter to have him parachuted in who isn’t sure if he wants to play or not. Morale will suffer.

I still expect the Munster Champions to start as strong favourites against a Cork team that is very much a work in progress.

Not really. As one of limericks most capped players he will be an inspiration to this young team. Cork were already massively up against it in this game and, especially now with this addition, Limerick look a step up in class too far for JBM’s band of motley rebels cobbled together from clubs no one has ever heard of. As @Julio Geordio says, Limerick by 11.

Niall would be a serious sub to be bringing in. Reasonably good in the air & a decent scoring option.

Limerick would want to be bating a team like cork by 6 or 7 points if they are serious about the all ireland

Brian Corcoran’esque return here, Limerick are going to make shite of Cork.

Niall is back. Mike Fitzgerald also.
