From what I have heard Clare are planning to play a very direct game on Sunday and all three of O’Donnell, Shanagher and McGrath will operate close to goal. I would expect Galvin to be asked to sit in front of the half backline similar to what Shanahan did in the league while Podge will be given licence to roam from wing forward and might end up deep at times. I’d expect Kelly to stay advanced and not drop all that deep but i would expect him to drift from sideline to sideline and back towards his midfielders to receive the ball as the need arises.
If they intended in playing a two man inside line then either Podge or Reidy would start inside and play between the full and half forward line and I expect we might see this later in the year with a more robust hurler like Deasy, Malone, Golden or McCarthy coming into the side at midfield or half forward.

13 of the Clare team are pretty much nailed on. The remaining 2 are much of a muchness really.
It could be a case who moves first. Limerick will play very similar to kielys 21 side. Possibly even more defensive in their set up at the beginning. Limerick could have three lads making their championship debut in defence on Sunday. 3 more that haven’t played a good game in championship in 3 years. Limerick will sit very very deep. With diagonal high balls into hayes and nash(hopefully) being the aim of the game.
It is easier said than done to get quick ball inside when you crowd the middle third though. I think Pat O’Connor v Nash and David Mc against Hayes or vise versa are match ups Clare would be confident about especially with either Morey sweeping in front of them or Cleary sitting and holding.
Limerick will be totally reliant on dowling for puck outs which is a huge plus for Clare too.
Who would you see being our first sub
Cian lynch ability to win ball in congested areas is key. He’s the vision to pick out Dempsey and dowling who are v good at finding space.
Puckouts for both sides interesting. Both will surely push up and make the other go long you would think.
I can only assume that Clare will put David Fitzgerald on Dowling as Fitzgerald is a powerful man and will drive forward and will be a test for Dowling’s workrate to see is he willing to track his runs.
I know the Clare lads don’t rate Jim-Bob at all, but the fact is that he always gets on a serious amount of ball. If he’s playing, I’d expect the same from him. Wouldn’t have great vision but he will always win ball in the middle third.
quaids are useless at best. Hegartys loss is massive if he doesn’t make it and Byrnes as well. Are two most dominant players in the air.
His legs are gone imo. Hope I’m wrong! Great servant.
If Hego is gone and being replaced by Nash or Casey, surely Kyle will be moved out to the wing for a while at least. He’ll break ball and work his socks off.
They’ll be reluctant enough to do that id imagine. Leave him find his feet inside.
Who was the last 18 year old to start championship for limerick?
For Limerick or in general?
Shocks was 18 anyway. Trying to think of one since then. Shocks is still only 32
