Justin McCarthy was a bad appointment at the time for Limerick. A great hurling man there is no doubt, but has zero relevance to this particular thread at the same time.

Saying that, not ringing the players was terrible. Look that whole episode from the AI semi final in 09 to the strike year is better forgotten. Awful dark days.

I have to say, the cork fans beside us in the lower hogan were exceptionally sporting…We all shook hands after the game.

Same was the case in the upper south stand in PuC earlier in Munster.

Justin was a fantastic coach for Waterford. Better coach than a manager. Players loved him for a long time. Six years is a good run with any county team, but frustration set in after the 2007 semi final loss.
