Limerick v Cork, tits done now

Cork may not have a all that strong full and centre back but they do have two fine corner backs and a wing back who is top class. As a unit they are far better than Kilkenny and if their forwards work rate is at the level which is required they are more than capable of turning the screw and dominating.

It’s the big question really. Casey really showed what he can do against Kilkenny, he’s so good and would flourish in this system.

It would be very harsh to drop any of them but it’s a different situation to Casey only showing form in training or against Carlow. He came on and looked razor-sharp when we needed him most in the heat of Championship. It’s a very hard call to make but I think he might do it. Whatever the call is, you have a super player starting and a brilliant sub to come in too.

Can you trust Flanagan to come on as a sub and do the same if he was dropped? Dont know what way he’d take it. Mul, as an experienced player, would probably re-act better but I cant see him being dropped.

Both Mul and Casey are small. Give them both No 15 jerseys and stick them both on

Thing about Peter Casey too is that he’s more likely than any of the other three to stick goal chances when they arise.

Clare were walloping them in 1st half . However cork to their credit cut of space in front of Conlon and didn’t let Clare get a run in the middle either . They created overlaps and Clare faded .

They walloped limerick too .

Baring injury Peter Casey won’t start against Cork. He will likely replace the least effective of the inside line at half time.

Kiely will be loyal to those who got us this far, I’d imagine.

Casey has shown he is capable of coming off the bench and having an impact.

Why would Kiely risk changing that dynamic? We don’t know how the others will impact a game from the bench.

Casey won’t start and rightly so. Bring him on when the game breaks up and get’s loose and let him do untold

There’s no question that the same 15 start v Cork.

3 games left in the championship so the referee appointments will be interesting.

Keenan, O’Dwyer, Murphy & Kelly are done for the year. Colm Lyons will get the final if Cork aren’t in it, otherwise I’d expect it’ll be either James McGrath or Fergal Horgan again.

Sean Cleere could be a dark-horse to get one of the semis.

If Owens is appointed to another Limerick game I will personally travel to Wexford to maim the cunt in advance of the fixture.

They’ll hardly give our semi final to Owens after he did the match between the sides in Cork.

If Horgan doesn’t get either semi final he’ll be nailed on for the final again I’d reckon. Although with all the politics involved giving it to the same lad two years in a row mightn’t go down well in some quarters.

McGrath might get the final I’d say.

I suppose the reason for taking the risk is that he could potentially score a goal and a few points.

It is a risk.

Limerick are a side which play in a certain way and don’t particularly deviate from it. Especially in terms of the positioning of their forwards and the runs they make and the space they look to exploit.
I don’t see them throwing too many curve balls at Cork next weekend and will play and line out as they always have.

It was overlooked in the aftermath of the Clare defeat but Clare learned a lot of lessons on how to play Limerick from the league
quarter final back in March and got their match ups right the second time around and were able to nullify Limerick relatively easily due to
this, the style and tactics used by Limerick had barely changed from that day in March. Cork will have learned plenty from the game back in
June and I would expect them to be ready for what Limerick will bring and will have their match ups ready.

Hard to see Kinnerk and Kiely deviating from what has worked so far this year but teams will probably feel that the more times they play
Limerick the better crack they have of beating them as they grow more accustomed to the problems they will pose. I assume that starting
Casey and placing him on Cahalane would give Cork a different problem to deal with which they mightn’t be expecting but aside from that it
will be as you were.

Cork never really got to grips with their extra man the last day and Mark Coleman didn’t fire as a sweeper, was no surprise to see them use
Conor O’Sullivan in this role against Waterford the next day out as he is very good at playing that role.

It’s that old boxing parlance that styles makes fights and I think we should get another great game here with both teams looking to move the
ball and go at each other’s set of backs. Neither team play cagey and hopefully we get another great game.

Tipperary men are well-versed in the arts of politics! It should go to the best man available, and that’s Horgan. Lyons is due one but probably won’t get Clare V Galway with Cork involved on the other side.

My predicted final 3 are Horgan, McGrath & Cleere (courtesy of CCCC chairman Ned Quinn)

Limerick with Flanagan, Dowling and Graeme are very different to Gillane, Flanagan and Graeme. The movement is Chalk and cheese.

he could do the same from the bench. Has done. 1-5 in about 25 minutes hurling (Carlow, I know).

Look, it’s the only real call to make between now and 2 weeks and isn’t it a great place to be in.

The worry is he probably won’t have the fitness for a full 70 Mins. I’d say that’s what will swing it.

yeah it all points to him being a sub. I’ve no problem with that at all.
The three boys inside are capable of giving it to Cork.

I don’t think any of their full back line will enjoy seeing Casey coming onto them with 20-25 to go after being taken for a tour of Croke Park by Mul or Flanagan

Sure we were four points down at half time against a gale. Not doing too bad. Good few wides and all.
It went to fuck when we left Dowling inside on his own and hit balls down into the corners to him.

Clare had us sussed though.

I’ll go with…

Galway v Clare - Owens.
Limerick v Cork - Keenan (a curve ball appointment)
Final - Horgan.
