Manic fucking aggression!
haven’t seen limerick hurl this year…just wondering have they changed much under Allen?..i would always have considered limerick to be one of the few teams that have stayed true to the old traditional way of hurling …tough, fast, hurling where the ball is constantly driven down field …used to love watching them back in the day with the likes of Nash, Carey, Clarke, houlihan etc…
That’s pretty much what we did Saturday.
Duignan said during commentary that Limerick are hurling like “a good, honest, old style hurling team”
fookin duignan…hardly new to limerick…they’ve been doing that for as long as i rememeber…
What was wrong with what Duignan said?
Eh, woah there. I think that’s what he saying, that they had gone back to their roots as opposed to trying to persevere with the short passing of the previous year.
just from runts quote (as i didn’t see the match or hear what duignan said) it sounded like he was saying it was new to limerick…like i said by and large limerick to my mind have been one of the few teams who have never changed over the last 20 years…apologies to Duignan fan club if i caused offence…
Just to be clear: I don’t like Duignan and he is generally very negative towards Limerick.
Manic fucking aggression.
Right, who’s all going to this. Think I might get the train down and partake in a few hints beforehand.
It’s on in Thurles is it?
Manic fucking aggression!
It is, first game on at 2
SUNDAY’S clash with Kilkenny is Limerick’s “All-Ireland final”, according to Limerick defender Gavin O’Mahony ahead of the All-Ireland quarter-final clash in Thurles.
“It’s our All-Ireland hurling final – its’ huge as far as the development of Limerick hurling goes,” said Gavin O’Mahony.
“It would be our All-Ireland final to get a result but similar to all the other matches we won’t look any further than Sunday,” said the ace defender, who was an unused sub when the sides last met in the championship - 2007 All-Ireland final.
“It’s where we want to be - we went into the Tipp game and there was uncertainty and doubts and it cost us in the finish – I don’t think we had the confidence that we could actually win the match and hopefully we will have learned a lot from that,” said the Kilmallock man.
“We have to concentrate on ourselves - try and correct a few of the mistakes from the Clare game and go and have a real cut off Kilkenny.”
He added: “I would be lying if I said we weren’t going up to win it. You start every year hoping you don’t bow out before the All-Ireland final and if we perform and give it our best shot and its not good enough then well and good”.
“For me its not about how far you get – if its semi-finals or quarter-finals, it about winning the competition and you have beat everyone to do that. Getting an easy draw or anything like that is only prolonging the inevitable if your not good enough to win the competition,” he said of the task of playing the All-Ireland champions, who are still smarting from their Leinster final defeat to Galway.
O’Mahony hopes that Limerick can use the Galway template.
“I watched it all – it was a shock really, it always is when you have red hot favourites turned over. It was incredible – one of those days when Kilkenny under performed and it was the opposite for Galway,” he said of the Leinster final.
“Obviously Galway worked very hard and looked really sharp and there first touch was brilliant. They covered ground and worked for each other and that’s what we have to do – we would be hoping to make it a repeat performance from ourselves,” he said.
The game has a 4.00 start in Semple Stadium and will be live on RTE Two.
Tickets for the eagerly awaited game are on sale from the Gaelic Grounds.
The office in the Gaelic Grounds will be open each day, 9.30am to 5.30pm until Friday. Stand tickets are €30, while terrace are €25. U-16s are €5 when accompanied by an adult. Concessions are available for OAPs and students, while group tickets for teams and family tickets are also available
Roll on Sunday - Come on Limerick to fuck!
Can we buy tickets on the day?
You can I assume, but it would be handier to get them in advance, given the often mad queues for tickets in Thurles.
Decent(ish) stand tickets available on tickets.ie. No service charge bullshit and you can print off a PDF version of your ticket.
Again saves the hassle of queuing on the day.
I’d say it should attract around 35k so good stand tickets will probably sold out by Sunday
Getting more and more confident on the run up to this. Going to go with a cycling training spin around East Cork rather than use up a hurling day out on this quarter final - watch it on the telly instead. I’d usually be waiting for the All Ireland but I need to take into account a semi final day out v Tipp, will wait till then. I’d be worried that Limerick will put it up to us but sure that will stand to us too in good stead before we play Tipp in the semi.
Ye’re playing Waterford mate.
