Line of Duty Super Thread

I think Fleming said it in the chase and blamed the prison officers.

I was so hopeful that Fleming was going to do a heel turn and sabotage the chase.

Breaking Bad was originally supposed to end after season 4, after “Face Off” so they nailed the ending twice

I couldn’t remember a thing about Buckles bar his few cameos this season was he in and out of episodes from the beginning?

He was in a couple of prior series but a minor character.

Just after watching the final episode there. I actually thought it was very good and wrapped things up nicely.

The message is that corruption is endemic and the higher-ups will close ranks. The likes of Ted and AC12 never stood a chance.

There is a suggestion of the head man’s involvement but he could just as well not be yet wants to quash any bad press.

They’ve left the door open for Ted to win his appeal against retirement and ride back into town.

Underwhelming ending really.

I was thinking his name was forged too tbh.

Did yer man have a laptop in the prison cell

For me, it was as much the fact that Buckells was the bumbling mess that came in to take over cases and was then this kingpin who orchestrated all these heists, killings and organisation of both bent cops and crime gangs. It adds up and they cross off loose ends, but it’s seriously underwhelming with him being the main guy. I know it’s opened up for another season, but if that was it, then it was a rather tame exit considering how all the other seasons ended.

It’s obviously not Buckles. The point that was he promoted through the ranks despite being incompetent was hammered home. He is willing to take the fall but the next series will be about digging in again to find the higher up involved. Buckles was Johnny Sac but Carmine remains elusive

He wasn’t the main guy though. He was the fourth man. He said that he was the last man standing and he just sorted things from a cop perspective - it was the OCG that did the actual crimes.

For me Line of Duty lost it when it was revealed Dot Cotton was doing morse code as he lay dying. An utterly farcical twist. In terms of wrapping things up on that basis I think season 6 did alright.

Are they meant to do another season? I could see them take a few years out now and it dawn’s on them and eats away at them that they made a bollix of the ending but left enough wiggle room, and that gnawing feeling to rectify it will bring the main cast back. They aren’t exactly stars that’ll be off trotting around hollywood anyway. After a few years everyone’s appetite will be back for one last roll of the dice. It’ll happen. Those on the show are probably fatigued of it for now.

They were getting 19m views. It was at peak popularity. BBC probably couldn’t syndicate it as successfully internationally as Killing Eve though

Only watched the last episode there.

FFS SAKE.

That is all.

Just finished it. Fucking horseshit. Buckles organised it all me bollix. Great show though.

It’d be like finding out @Bandage was secretly running TFK

Folks, while the destination may have been underwhelming it was because the journey that preceded it was so enjoyable. It was always going to be that way.

There will be a season 7 I think. They basically said it in the episode that buckles wasn’t the main man, but no one wanted to look any higher.
