Alves was an incredible player too.
Yes
I just said I’m a fucking idiot as well.
Do you not read?
They would make anyone better … the people crossing the ball for Ronaldo to head make him look better … Allison keeping clean sheets make Liverpool’s defence look better and on we go …
What you’re saying is that it’s a team game, yeah? - Messi didnt have the greatest game last night but if I recall, he put 2 of his players through last night for great chances only for them to fluff them… He already rescued them at home when Liverpool were much the better team - he cant always dig them out on his own.
He fluffed a few great chances himself.
Villa was incredible player for a few seasons too. Pep then destroyed that team trying to be too smart imo. When they’d villa, Messi and Pedro up top with busquets, Xabi and iniesta in midfield they were joyous to watch. Alves is one of the most underrated players I’ve ever seen.
Alves was an inferior player to a peak Maicon.
He did - tho they were mainly long range. The facts are, that Barca team are getting on and they dont have the quality of a few years ago — They simply couldnt hack the manic aggression of Liverpool and that’s not Messi’s fault … they as a team should have seen that lead out … Coutinho was hopeless, Suarez threw himself about first half but he was poor - the defence was woeful as was the goalkeeping … one player cant make up for a collective collapse like that.
Yes but Messi was best placed than almost any other player on the planet to get the best out of his unique skill set. You rarely get a crop like Barca did during that time. Pep was the coach Valdes, puyol, pique, Alba, busquets, fabergas, Messi, iniesta, xabi and Pedro were all academy graduates I think.
Come on Maicon done it for 18 months. Alves done it for 10 or 12 seasons.
All it needed was a goal. You’d expect more from a lot of those players, you’d expect a hell of a lot more from a guy of Messi’s standing in football.
Maicon did it for much longer than 18 months. He was the first choice right back for Brazil for most of his career.
that’s the thing. His goal scoring ratio hasn’t dropped since he played in that team with all those great players. No matter what team is around him, since 2009/10 he has been getting 40+ goals a season. 73 one season (50 in la Liga).
When the standard you judge him by is absolute perfection your argument will always be counter productive. No matter what he does you’ll denigrate him.
But Barcelona aren’t the same side, 1 CL final in 9 years post Guardiola.
Barcelona will score bucket loads in La Liga, with or without Messi.
It has to be fair. He was averaging about 55-60 for 3 or 4 seasons he’s back down to about 45-50 which is understandable given his age and the lesser players around him.
No I’d expect him to live up to his billing not be a chump when the heat is on.
Yesterday you were saying Barcelona and Real Madrid are the yardsticks other clubs are measured against in Europe.
Now this.
You are some bluffer.
he’s just scored 12 goals in this years Champions league.
