Rte had to fill the gap left by the gaa.
The gaalaban have only themselves to blame.

Aah tim. You’re being economical with the truth here… they are ‘covering it’ alright… will they be showing many of the matches live? If so how many? Feel free to answer the question.
All live games in the UK will be broadcast by ITV/Channel 4/S4C.
The BBC might mention it on the news.
We need Marty outside The Palace Bar interviewing Billy Keane at 11.30am and then straight across to Darren Frehill speaking to Roy Curtis in Mulligans.
Build some razzmatazz.

12pm-1pm: Marty on the train with the Kerry supporters as they near Dublin. Darren Frehill live from the Gresham to meet fans on the hunt for tickets. Roy Curtis gets the 41 bus in from Swords and chats to the Dublin supporters. Paddy O’Gorman talks to some oul’ fellas having the fry up at a greasy spoon.

1:15pm - 1:45pm: All-Ireland Final Gong For Gold - a GAA themed edition of the classic quiz show, featuring former Dublin and Kerry greats such as Kevin Moran, Bomber Liston, Michael Darragh McAuley and Tomás O’Se. Presented by Ryan Tubridy.

2:10pm-2:30pm: Some hilarious bantz as former greats take part in a penalty competition to entertain the 2,000 people who have made their way into the stadium early.

gaalaban
You fucking mug.
I’d be very concerned that RTE’s Club GAA Saturday evening slot will be lost through September and October because of this nonsense.
Still no comment from @Tim_Riggins … bbc are covering the world cup like london is a great place for accomodation…

They’ll be covering the competition live and investing resources in it. In France the games will be partly produced for tv by State tv.
Not sure what your issue is here.

They are covering the World Cup.
You do realise that the world goes a bit beyond tv?
Of course radio is cheaper to produce but not far off what VMTV and RTÉ will have to do here as they are not filming and producing the games. If they were to do so for the GGA then they would have to do so.
The BBC are the official audio partner of the Rugby World Cup and S4C are a publically funded tv broadcaster.
Nothing unique about RTÉ’s radio and tv coverage of the tournament.

I thought he died a year or two back. He died in 2012.
Sadly missed
That’s a very weak line up truth be told.
Isn’t Big Johnny Glynn on the edge of the square for Ardrahan?
He is i believe.
His presence alone for an interview is box office.
