I also think Gerrard off Torres is the only solution up front.[/quote]

Yes & yes. Keane offered no threat tonight. Whenever he got the ball he was way too deep and looked lost. Torres won a a good few flick-ons/knock downs but Keane seemed to make the wrong run every time.

My team

Reina
Arbeloa Carragher Agger Insua
Mascherano Alonso
Kuyt Gerrard Reira/Babel
Torres

Would agree with that in the main Fran. I like Skrtel though as a defender but Agger does offer a lot going forward.

Riera has seriously gone off the boil in the last few games. Babel was in form and then was left out. I think he deserves a run now.

Keane was really poor tonight. There was a time where he won the ball in the area and instead of taking it on towards goal he passed it back to Torres who was marked. I think that ended up with the penalty claim but it was a shocking indictment of a supposed 20m striker.

A decent prediction. Bout a minute or two before the goal.

Gerrard wasnt in the game. Scored a fine goal but nothing else. Never affected the tempo of the game and only got close to Torres after Keane went off. His set pieces are rubbish too. Liverpool would seriously want to get someone else to take the odd one. Howard is a mess of a keeper so i would have thought a few inswingers from Aurelio would have been worth a shot.

Hard to find anyone who was good for Liverpool. Torres tired in the second half but looked dangerous early on. Reina and the defence looked dodgy. Carragher was diabolical on the right. His crossing and passing were woeful.Badly need to put him back in the centre and Arbeloa on the right. Where was Insua? Didnt think Alonso had one of his better games. His passing was a bit off but in fairness he was always looking for the ball. Kuyt put in a good shift. Robbie Keane’s performance was worrying with the Georgia game in a couple of weeks.

Baines attacked well at left back. Pienaar did pretty well. I thought Arteta was the best midfielder on view. Hardly misplaced a ball all night. Everton lack quality especially up front but they have plenty of spirit and it was hard to argue with the result.

I read that Insua got called up by Argentina for the South American qualifying section of the U-20 World Cup.

A Skrtel/Agger partnership is the future for me. Skrtel is very strong and loves a battle. Needs to improve his passing and awareness though. I think both of them would compliment each other.

Any truth to the rumour that Agger will be off in the Summer?

“Nice shorts Danny”
“Cheers Marty. You’re looking well yourself.”

That is a terrible attempt rock…i expected better from you:p

There is lots of rumours Agger is in London an awful lot recently. Its not supposed to be to meet with other clubs though. Its allegedly to help him with some problems he is having.

I’ll have a PM on these “alleged problems” if you will.

I saw this mentioned on another board last week.

On a totally unrelated matter. I saw an interesting article in the uk independent last week:

A Premier League player who recently attended a London clinic for drug problems was urged to do so because of his club’s fears over his alleged cocaine use and not because he had failed a drugs test. The Independent has learnt that two professional players are coming to the end of secret bans, of three months and five months, after testing positive for a metabolite of cocaine, earlier this season.

Both players are attached to Football League clubs and while the “troubled” Premier League player’s club are concerned he might fail a drugs test, he has not done so yet. At this stage the club has no plans to “shop” the player and ask for the drug testers to target him. That remains an option if he does not modify his behaviour.

those “problems” have been well documented MBB. Apparently, he wasnt going to be back playing because of his huge drug problem, and he wasnt really injured at all. A lot of shite talk which is googled easily enough.

Surely these players should be named and shamed.

They havent failed any official test so if there clubs dont want to shop them they don`t have to.

Robbie Keane has been left out of Liverpool’s 18-man squad today.

I saw the pre-match interview with Benitez and it was a cagey affair.

‘And Robbie Keane hasn’t made the squad today…’

‘Yes.’

‘Is it a case of him being injured or rested?’

‘No. I couldn’t pick 19 players. I can only pick 18.’

‘That will raise questions about his future. Does Robbie Keane have a future here?’

‘I think so.’

His body language suggested it was the end for Keane at Liverpool.

Yeah I think it’s curtains for Robbie. I think he is in awe of Gerrard and Torres and that has been his biggest problem. Of course the fact that he hasn’t had much of a chance playing in his preferred position and has been halled off be Rafa in nearly every game hasn’t helped matters.

I could never understand the signing. Last season showed that Torres and Gerrard is the forward pairing and splashing 20 million on someone like Keane who plays in the Gerrard role didn’t make sense.

Could be some merit in pushing Gerrard in an attacking role from the right with Keane in the centre but I think the game against Evertin showed that Torres is better up there by himself with Gerrard off.

Must say that I feel for Robbie though. Undoubtedly a talent but also undoubtedly possessing no future at Liverpool.

Turns out Robbie didnt show up yesterday at Anfield, relationship seems to be irreparable at this point.

3 games since Rafa Rant, and 3 games without a win.
i would fear for Lpool in the run it, i can see it unraveling badly

Not very professional from him but nothing new there. in fairness, it wasnt a tough decision, freezing his balls off watching muck in the stand at Anfield or being balls deep in his missus at home.

Terrible signing from Benitez. Liverpool badly off form at the moment. Goals not coming from Torres. No goals from midfield apart from Gerrard. About time Babel or Riera stepped up.

None of the big 5 going that well at the moment. Although Emile Heskey is bound to get Villa back firing again tomorrow night.
