Lawro the name dropping cunt (as pukey perfectly described him last night) said there was rumours floating about already that he had left.
I think Lawro let something slip on R5 in the UK yesterday or today.
p.s. I heard about 2 weeks ago that O` Neill bought a house in Liverpool
OâNeill is waiting for the Man U job and nothing else.
There is a story about this on Shitanta Sports
http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Football/2009/02/25/Prem-Benitez-betting-suspended/gnid-41850/
This is the same Lawrenson who admitted making a story up about Robbie Keane leaving and exclusively revealed that Michael Carrick would start at centre half last night?
where is Keane now?
and in fairness, he said Carrick was in line to go centre half if OâShea and Evans couldnt tog out, but said a 70% fit Evans would be better than Carrick so expected that.
heâs still an idiot tho

He made up the story after a âconversationâ with Gerard as they share the same agent. He just threw a bit of petrol on the fire and then came out admitting how much of a cunt he really is.
Iâd say there was some truth to the story, but if he didnt deny it, then no one in the club would speak to him again about what is going on for fear of it getting out. he probably backtracked on it, even tho he knew stuff about it.
still a cunt alright, as if Gerrard had said something like that, he shouldnt have come out trying to tell everyone so heâd look like he was well in with him.

My biggest concern at the time was if Lawrenson was Irish or English during that conversation.
The MON/Liverpool stories are complete bollix anyway. If Benitez goes in the summer who are they going to get to replace him. I read something there lately that Liverpoolâs current points tally is the highest its ever been at this stage of the season. With his current resources he has done a very good job I reckon.
There is a massive political storm at Anfield. The Liverpool board want to get rid of Benitez but know if they do that it is going to unsettle their Spanish stars who will probably leave. They havent got the money to replace them with similar quality. Benitez wants to stay but only on his own terms which includes dismantling the academy, getting rid of Rick Parry and probably a host of other issues. The fans are on his side too. For all his faults I cant think of someone else who could come in in the summer and do better than him with similar resources. Moyes couldnt touch it, MON would be a fool to, Mourinho is despised by the Pool fans. Martin Jol is a good manager but I cant think of too many others that would be interested and fit the bill.

Surely Alec McLeish would be a candidate. Youâve heaped praise on him before.
Not sure I follow the point on the Spanish stars. Presume youâre talking about Reina and Torres and we can pretend Alonso is Spanish for this conversation. Surely Reina and Torres would get at least the same fee back for Liverpool as they shelled out in the first place. So while they might have trouble attracting star names if they left I donât see how theyâd be short of money in replacing them. Theyâd surely get in huge fees for them.
I do agree with the general point that theyâll struggle to get in a much better manager. There are others outside the EPL though. Just not sure theyâd attract the best of the best.

McLeishâs reputation is taking a bit of a battering at the moment. Bad club he joined. If they get promoted he should quit as there isnt an ounce of potential there. He won leagues, cups and champions league progression at Rangers. He needs to take PR lessons from MON I think. Although MON did a great job at Leicester in fairness.
eh, no point pretending Rock, Alonso is Spanish
Alonso was dicked around last summer so he may not care either way but Reina and Torres would leave if Benitez goes almost certainly. Mascherano probably aswell. Yes it would bring in a lot of funds but what top level player would want to come in those circumstances. Liverpool badly need money for their new stadium also so I think a new manager may not get all that much money to spend.
Iâm not overly up to speed on continental football. What other options is there that could do a better job than Benitez. Martin Jol, Mancini perhaps
Surely that highest points tally ever comment is incorrect? Although itâs been so long since Liverpool won a league title, maybe it was 2 points for a win back then.
Boom-tish.

I prob read it on Sky or one of their associated sites.
Not denying its bollox either.

Football began in 1992/93 according to Sky so itâs probably a correct statement in the context of the âPremier Leagueâ era alright.

Alonso is a proud Basque. Heâs Spanish in the same way Iâm from Dublin.
I do think theyâd find it hard to attract real top players if they found themselves without Torres and Benitez at the end of the season but I donât think finances will curtail them - getting rid of Torres would bring in a small fortune.

and a vastly worse off team

Seriously how do you make that out now. I love when people speculate shit like this when havenât really a bulls notion about these players/managers personal lives
Its alright Fran, KIB Man has an insight to every sporting situation in the world. He knows the players, what they were thinking, what they said and how they felt they were treated. Youâre a brave man to question him.
Actions speak louder than words Fran
Alonso the Spaniard was hawked around Europe last season to anyone in particular as Benitez looked to club some money together to buy Gareth Barry.
Benitez was the sole factor in Reina and Torres signing in the first place so I doubt it would be a surprise if they got sick of having their house robbed in a slum city in shit weather and wanted out also.
Ruud van Nistelrooy and Henry may need to be replaced in the summer. Throw in a presidential election or two and I can see Torres on the move from a Benitez less Liverpool. If Reina wants to seriously test Casillas for the Spanish number one spot he needs to move home and the number one spot at Barcelona is available.
