Liverpool 2008/09

Should have been yellow carded for time wasting in my opinion. He did have Carragher and Skrtel in tatters at times though.

When Drogba is in the mood he is unmarkable, superb player…Would hate to try and mark him, has it all…

Never mind Drogba should have been booked for timewasting, teams do that every week.

If you’re going to argue with bookings that never were, surely the incredibly high amount of little game-stopping cynical fouls that Liverpool committed over the course of the game should have resulted in more yellows. They kept committing foul after foul, giving away free after free, and it was obvious that if they kept fouling Chelsea players instead of standing up to them, they were eventually going to concede from a free.

I’d say he’d hate to mark you too pukey:rolleyes:

I’m not arguing over bookings. Just commenting on Drogba’s histrionics. No bitterness either. Chelsea deserved the tie over the 2 legs.

Jesus Christ. What a crazy fuckin game that was. Was more like watchin Dream Team than the champions league.

I also thought Drogba was unplayable at times tonight. He bullied the absolute fook out of the Liverpool defence at a stage in the game where Chelsea were toiling elsewhere on the park. If you supported Chelsea, you’d clearly be delighted with his performance. I don’t know if you’d also have misgivings about his attitude earlier in the season though when he downed tools in some ways, especially his half-assed effort at Old Trafford. Really brilliant tonight though.
drogba is a great player- the barca defense will fear him

thank god beautiful Rome wont be destroyed by those animals
yeah, you can keep exterminating jews and romany gypsies

Chelsea played well enough in the first leg to earn their spot in the semi-final. I don’t know what Rafa’s attitude was tonight though. He completely spoofed his way through the post-match interview, talking about how they were still confident, even after he had clearly given up on the tie by taking Torres off. Gutsy display though. Fair play to them for having a lash. More important things to think about for the day ahead.

take your soldiers out of iraq you english prick

That mistake by Reinia really changed the game… some night tho, went through every emotion. Chelsea’s performance in the first leg was top class and deservedly got them through… However i despise that cunt drogba, he’s a fucking beast but the amount of rolling around he does is a fucking joke.

It’s Arsenal’s to lose now

What was story with the empty seats last night? I know they aren’t the two biggest clubs in the world but would have thought match would have been a sellout.

I’m warming to you NCC

Chelsea’s fans embarrassd themselves last night. Even at 2-0 they were still ahead on aggregate and they couldn’t raise a murmur. Outsang by the Liverpool fans practically the whole night on their own patch, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Yeah was a really poor atmosphere considering scoreline as well.

I was pretty amused by their reaction at the end too. I expected them to be going mental after going through 7-5 on aggregate after such a wild tie. It’s not as if they can be sated* having never won the competition before.

 • I’m unsure if there is actually such a word but I’ve gone with my instincts on it.

Check pukeapedia, if it ain’t on there it ain’t a word.

It’s a quarter final - a big game for Celtic maybe, but it’s hardly worth celebrating seen as how they’ve still to play Barcelona and one of the other 4 before they get their hands on the trophy.

If I was a Chelsea fan who forked out for the final last year, that game would be all too fresh in the memory and while the players deserve great credit for last night, I’d hardly have been lifting the roof off the place. I was still in a state of confusion, shock, and panic for a while after the final whistle. Maybe some day if your own team wins a game 7-5 on aggregate with a 4-4 draw at home and the visitors twice come within a goal-line save of eliminating you, maybe then you can all judge the Chelsea supporters and their failure to celebrate as if they’d won the fucking thing.

Of course it was worth celebrating a 7-5 aggregate win in an epic tie. Do you believe football supporters should only express joy after winning things and instead play down magical victories over the course of a season like managers and players tend to do? The fact that the game ebbed and flowed so incredibly was all the more reason to show their joy and appreciation at the end rather than sitting on their hands. It was fairly fucking bemusing to me anyway.
