Kean for the Kop!

Liverpool confirm interest in Guardiola:

Twitter really is a curse. Kenny is still king of the kop*

*for now **

** as in he may not be in five minutes time but as of right now he still is.

There’s no point getting rid of Kenny unless they’ve got a superior option lined up. The issues this year are largely squad based and unfortunately those decisions have already been made. A new guy is going to inherit the exact same squad.

Kenny Dalglish has returned to Merseyside following talks with Liverpool’s owner, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), in Boston.

The Liverpool manager travelled to Massachusetts yesterday along with Steve Clarke, his assistant, and met with John W Henry and Tom Werner, the club’s principal owners, as part of an ongoing review into Liverpool’s performance last season.

As planned, Dalglish flew back to Heathrow after the meeting had ended, while Clarke remained in Boston where he accompanied Henry and Werner to Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox record a comfortable 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners.

Contrary to speculation that surfaced following the summit, Dalglish did not resign and nor was he sacked with the outcome of the talks being a mundane acceptance from all parties that the process of reviewing the season will continue.

Henry and Werner are seeking an explanation for Liverpool’s shortcomings during a disappointing campaign which culminated with them finishing in eighth place in the Premier League. The duo are also looking to Dalglish and Clarke to provide a vision of how they will revitalise the club’s fortunes.

Having already dismissed Damien Comolli from his role as director of football and a number of other senior executives, FSG have demonstrated that they will not shirk at making big decisions but they will know that removing Dalglish, a hugely popular figure amongst Liverpool’s support, would be another matter entirely.

For his part, Dalglish continues to plan for the future by scouting and targeting the players who he believes will help spark the kind of improvement that Liverpool’s owners are looking for. But until the review is concluded it is impossible to say with any great certainty that Dalglish will be in a position to put those plans into practice.

That sounds like Kenny has a presentation due next Monday morning, and if they don’t like it he’s getting shit-canned.

But won’t it make a difference whether they spend whatever money they do have on the same standard of dross or give someone else a chance to at least improve the squad, even if results will take a while.

Skrtel: “I have never said I want to leave #LFC or handed in transfer request. I am happy here. I haven’t thought about leaving the club.”

Spent 15mins or so earlier looking for my post at the start of the season predicting that Dalglish’s signings would be a disaster and Liverpool would have a very bad season.

Found some funny stuff though. FAO admins Think it’s worth having a they said it type of
sticky on the main page. Farmer was all about Charlie Adam and Totti started about one week in calling Clichy shit and wanting Kolarov in. Good few of us caught on Newcastle. I unfortunately predicted the demise of Blackburn. Good few of us were sweet on Swansea and Norwich staying up and hopefully collected last week.

Dalglish is gone.

Skynews running it now

That’s pretty much everyone from this whole season sacked!

I posted a few weeks back that he was gone and the other part of the rumour was that Rafa was to come back!! One thing is for certain, he wouldnt piss away 100m on the dross bought last season

Ah fuck. :frowning:

I’d take Rafa back but maybe a fresh start with someone like AVB would be best… Martinez can fuck right off and Rodgers doesn’t interest me.

Don’t know about that. He splashed out 20 million on a midfielder he afterwards refused to select. Also the guts of 20 million on an right back who is no world beater.

I’d like to wish Kenny all the best for the future.

Might be alright http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2015069/Steve-Staunton-join-old-club-Liverpool-coach.html

I imagine they told him he was being fired on Monday but had the grace to wait until he departed on holiday today before formally confirming it. Steve Clarke might be hanging around given he went to see the Red Sox with the owners? Or is he sacked too?

Listen, every manager has a few suspect buys. Alonso, Torres, Reina, Lucas, Kuyt, Mascherano, Aureilo etc were all great buys for the club, and most of them bargins. Johnson was never worth 20m, but they owed us a fair whack for Crouch that we never had a hope of recovering so it was put on Johnson’s price tag.

A very sad day for Liverpool Football Club.
