Liverpool are top by 4 for a reason. They have been better than City this season. City edged it last night but it was fine margins. If ball is 11mm further forward it is a goal and a different game.
Liverpool can probably drop about 12 more points and still take the title. The margin for error in the league is less than it ever was. Whoever wins it will need 95 or 96 points which is phenomenal.
Challenge for Liverpool is to go back and start winning again and recover from that defeat. That’s the hallmark of champions.
But two seasons ago, Tottenham weren’t involved in the Champions League after Christmas. Last season they went out in the last 16. They’ll be expecting to at least reach the quarter-finals of that competition this year. They’re also still involved in the League Cup, as are Manchester City - the two may well end up playing each other in the final.
As you’ve said yourself, Tottenham had more players involved deep into the World Cup than any other club, whereas more of Liverpool’s key players had summers off and full pre-seasons.
Son is off to the Asian Cup and will be a big loss.
Tottenham may have reeled in Liverpool in a few of those eight seasons you mention, but it’s one thing reeling in a team in sixth or seventh place, quite another reeling in a team at the top of the league.
VVD is a Rolls Royce of a player/defender, everybody that knows anything about football can see it, some lads here look very foolish disputing it, a few others look like sheep but what do you expect from a sheep but a baaah
Correct. He’s probably being the best player in EPL this season, with the likes of Fernadinho etc. closest in terms of consistency. You’d want your head examined to think otherwise.
I heard some loose talk that Matt Doherty could be signed. Probably bullshit. Great Liverpool teams require an Irishman though - preferably a full-back.
