Liverpool FC 2021/22

I knew something wasnā€™t right with the world when Liverpool cannot beat Tottenham. At least Sky got it right

They beat City home and away sure.

Lads sniping at a team whoā€™ve just gone top of the league. City could lose away at West Ham and spoil the fun for the anti-Kloppites. Imagine the seethe.

Thereā€™s many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip

And lost twice to worst Man Utd team in decades. Itā€™s Tottenham

I wouldnā€™t sit down and watch a full match that Liverpool are playing very often, but I was very underwhelmed by them last night, just as I was when they played Spurs at White Hart Lane before Christmas. The levels of energy, running around and intensity were off the scale but a real lack of guile and inspiration. A limited but well organised Spurs defence coped with them very comfortably and outside of a flukey deflected goal, you got the sense that Liverpool could still be playing and wouldnā€™t have scored.

Itā€™s telling that Liverpool from 6 league games against Citeh, Chelsea and Spurs this season, failed to register a single win. They drew all 6. If Liverpool donā€™t win the league itā€™ll be that inability to move from flat track bullying and beating the cannon fodder week in week out, to finding the extra gear to break down and beat more organised sides and big guns that will have cost them.

City look shaky lads.

Which of the 10 spurs defenders stood out for you?

Coach Klopp if anything seemed ever more rattled by Coach Conte and Spurs last night than he was when he threw the toys out of the pram at White Hart Lane before Christmas.

Maybe Coach Klopp should be focusing more on finding a way to overcome the inability of his Liverpool side to record a win against the sides towards the top of the table and fret a little bit less about the Spurs gameplan.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hit out at Antonio Conteā€™s tactics at Tottenham after the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening.

Son Heung-min opened the scoring for Conteā€™s side but eventually saw his goal cancelled out by Luis Diaz, whose deflected effort earned Liverpool a point but opened the door for Manchester City to take real control of the title race against Newcastle on Sunday.

After the game, Klopp insisted he was happy with his sideā€™s performance but questioned approach to big games compared to their own league position.

ā€œIā€™m really happy with the performance and proud of the mentality we showed against an incredibly good opponent with a gameplan,ā€ he said. "We had to win and they sit back and do counter-attacks.

"I thought we had a few things today which were on a completely different level. The counter press was outstanding. They scored their goal and we had to stay calm and increase the pressure, so thatā€™s a massive challenge, but we did it. We got the equaliser.

ā€œItā€™s obviously not the result we wanted, but itā€™s the performance we wanted.ā€

He continued: "The dressing room is not flying in this moment. But come on, something like this can always happen. There are other games to play, we just have to keep going. That was always clear.

ā€œI wish we could have won this game, but with all the praise for Tottenham, a world class team ā€“ they sit back. They drew against us, got results against Man City and Chelsea. The game plan works for these games but they are still fifth, so thatā€™s how it is. Time wasting, these kind of things, it makes it easier for them. We wanted three points, thatā€™s not so cool.ā€

The win takes to the top of the Premier League on goal difference but the Reds could fall three points behind City if Pep Guardiolaā€™s side can see off Newcastle as expected on Sunday.

Conte is too good for klopp

What do Klopp and Gary Neville expect? Spurs to go out and play ā€˜the United wayā€™ against Liverpool and lose 9-0 on aggregate?

Iā€™m fuming over last night. We left it behind us. Hojbjerg butchered what should have been a tap in winner in injury time.

Yes, how dare conte outsmart klopp and not lie down

Very strange to city not going all out for a few more goals here. Would mean they could afford to lose one of last three and still win it

Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley Iā€™d say are turning in their graves. All this glorification of advancement in the pot luck Cup competitions while not attending to business in the league. One of the first games at Anfield as a young Spurs fan that I can recall was in September 1978 when we were beaten 7-0. A long way removed from last night.

Liverpool have been a great cup team for the past 30 years.

It shows how high the bar has been raised by Coach Klopp that to outsmart him is to draw with him and in the process lose out on Champions League football.

Make us Dream.

Surprised to see @ChairmanDan leave out Woolwich and include Spurs in the big teams Liverpool didnā€™t beat considering Artetaā€™s tricky Gunners are four points clear of the Hotspurs

Woolwich are flat track bullies.

Thereā€™s others clubs who canā€™t even manage the good cup team tag in recent yearsšŸ‘€
