Liverpool Football Club 2013/14

[quote=“farmerinthecity, post: 779831, member: 24”]As a Liverpool fan, I am of course sad to see Suarez go. To be honest I don’t know how we managed to get him in the first place. On the back of a very good World Cup, he decided to leave a big club in Ajax where he was winning Championships and competing in the Champions League to Liverpool where he was struggling away just above mid table with the odd Europa League match. I suppose the draw of the Liverpool name just wasn’t enough after all.

I find it funny to hear him talk about his image being ruined when he was the one who bit an opponent, and racially abused another. For those reasons he will not be held too fondly by me although I accept that he was a fantastic player and fitted Rodgers’ plan perfectly. He is no Fowler, Owen or even Torres.

In terms of replacing him we need to wait and see how his transfer develops - for instance how much we get for him. I would love to see us buying a similar type player but can’t think of anyone at the moment. As tazdedub says we’ve lost big players before and they have been replaced and it will happen again.

He’s a far superior player to Fowler. FFS.

Will you fuck off, Fowler is a legend.

I just hope they spend the money well this time and not on more magic beans

+1

Suarez is the greatest player to have ever played in the EPL. A lovely chap too.

Reina has confirmed his future is at Liverpool. He is great pals with the King so hopefully this has some influence on any decision made.

who gives a shit?

Unfortunate for lfc methinks. Reina has been in terrible form for about 2 years and has looked overweight this year.

They can’t sell the fat cunt…

Who are you talking to, pal?

Thomas

Liverpool supporters, I imagine.

I’m pretty happy about this. While his form wasn’t great last season, he has been a good servant to the club and I wouldn’t like him to miss out on us winning the league next season.

He was better second half of the season. He has been a bit disillusioned since Rafa left.

From The Echo-

Liverpool FC are closing in on the £7.7million signing of Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas with Sporting Lisbon’s Tiago Ilori set to join him at Anfield.

The ECHO revealed last week that a fee had been agreed for Aspas with the Spanish outfit and discussions over personal terms have now reached a successful conclusion.

There are only a few minor details surrounding the transfer to be ironed out before the 25-year-old is given the go-ahead to fly to Merseyside to undergo a medical.

The Reds don’t anticipate any issues and Aspas should be confirmed as Brendan Rodgers’ second summer signing in the next 48 hours.

The 25-year-old scored 12 goals in 34 appearances last season and helped inspire Celta Vigo’s bid for top flight survival.

Aspas, who is a product of Celta Vigo’s Academy, is a versatile frontman who can lead the line, play as a second striker or operate in a wide role.

Liverpool are also in negotiations with Sporting as they look to secure the services of young centre-back Ilori.

The ECHO understands the Reds have tabled a bid of around £3million for the 20-year-old defender, who is currently on international duty with Portugal at the Toulon Tournament in France.

The Reds are increasingly confident they will complete the deal with cash-strapped Sporting willing to do business and Ilori having indicated his desire to join the club.

London-born Ilori joined Sporting’s Academy in 2006 and established himself in their first team during the second half of last season.

That rise in the 6ft 3ins defender’s profile has increased his price tag but Liverpool still believe it represents a sound investment.

Ilori is viewed as one for the future rather than a direct replacement for retiring vice-captain Jamie Carragher.

Liverpool expect to discover the extent of Daniel Sturridge’s ankle injury today amid fears he will miss the start of next season.

The £12million striker suffered ankle ligament damage playing for England against the Republic of Ireland last week. Swelling around the joint has delayed an accurate assessment of the damage until now.

My sources tell me Iago became very keen to sign when he heard the Moores had been gotten rid of.

Far too cerebral for most of the cunts on here sid but wonderful nonetheless

Óle.

It would take wanna be know it all arsefoley to have to go to the trouble of pointing out that he got the joke.

Kinda have to agree with this. Reina has been crap for a couple of seasons. As I see it there a few problems with Reina, one is the problems within the club the last couple of seasons between owners and managers, Reina not being interested and the lack of competition for the goal keepers position in the club. I would love to see Rogers going out and signing another good keeper to put the pressure on Reina. It would be interesting to see what Reina’s reaction would be to this. To me I think Reina wouldn’t have the fight and would want a move if some competition was brought into the club.:frowning:

Yeah, pretty much agree with all of that. Over the last few seasons he hasn’t really looked interested. This could be due to Liverpool doing shite, big players leaving, and also a kind of rut where he knows that he isn’t going to be challenged. Like you said Taz if a new keeper came in I don’t think Reina would be bothered upping his form.
