Liverpool Football Club 2022/23

Pep has Haaland and KDB good to go. Bobby misses out for the depleted Redmen. Doak on the bench

Great game. Carvalho lad is a generational talent.

Gonna be some sweeping here shortly

Disabled Liverpool supporters were racially abused also mate.

Football fans are utter scum.

Christ.

The so called rivalry is becoming embarrassing

Anybody doing that should be prosecuted. Appalling behaviour.

I didn’t think a League Cup game would make lads that narky

Is there a bit of the late 80’s scumbag supporter element creeping back into the English game.

It’s always been there but it’s policed. The Liverpool City games have become particularly nasty according to a mate of mine who’s a season ticket holder at Anfield. Says the abuse from both sides is bonkers.

I thought the Home City fans were in the same bracket as Arsenal fans in that inoffensive sense.

Most of the die hard away support is probably a bit bonkers alright.

City is traditionally a very working class club. It was solidly manc when at Maine Road. Surrounded by the Old Moate estate (aka the old scrote). There was an atmosphere of thuggery and incipient violence you love to see around any game. All the pubs in the area had bars across the counter which stopped just short of the top enough to slide money one way and a pint glass the other. When it relocated it was to the other great poverty stricken part of Manchester, the east. Collyhurst, Gorton etc. The owners have steadily led a gentrification of the area though. There’s still lots of council houses, but they have colleges, an absolutely lovely leisure centre, the city training complex and the Etihad linked by a footbridge, the national cycling centre with indoor track and indoor BMX track. The new music venue is being built there and looks epic. There’s modern apartments now among the poorer areas. McDonalds where we always have breakfast on a Saturday morning there is actually on match day the most civilized it is all week albeit a bit busier. It’s man city that have driven this regeneration, hand in hand with the council. Despite the talent on display, the season tickets are still relatively cheap. Nonetheless, epl for the most part has priced a lot of poorer people out of the market. The average blue collar worker simply can’t really afford it unless it’s their raison d’etre. It leaves the atmosphere a bit flat, especially given the stadium itself is poorly designed as the banking is too shallow and most seats are a long way from the pitch. City fans never had and probably never will have the arrogance of United fans. Most deep down just expect them to derail. It’s trapped somehow between the middle class south manc set and the local hardcore fans. Most would have zero interest in crowd trouble though. The match day atmosphere is more like a visit to quinnsworth
