Because they are good with the ball at their feet and they are good in teams that hold possession and look to play out from the ball and through a team pressing on them. They don’t have to do much of the work traditionally associated with a keeper like ensuring a defence keeps its shape, coming for crosses, shot stopping or controlling their box.
