Just checked the audit trail. Iraola was first mentioned as a possibility last october by @frankbrett.
@caulifloweredneanderthal broke the news last week of slot going and being replaced feom inside sources.
The side group were well on top of this one.

It’s not harsh because Slot had obviously lost control and the players had obviously downed tools and you have to act in that situation.
However the behind the scenes fellas are obviously bluffers who are dining out on what Klopp built. Klopp built it, not them.
I’d have a lot more sympathy for Slot who actually won a league than the laptop nerds, who did not.

Not sure id describe it as ridiculously harsh. I feel for Slot, i think he was unlucky this year with what happened in the off season, a lot of transition with players in and out, and lots of injuries to key players.
His biggest failing however was the style of play and tactics. It was turgid shit, little work rate and not knowing how the get the best out of players. He won a league and didnt disgrace himself, and personally i think its the right call. I dont see how he changes things with how he puts out teams. Id rather this than half season of crap and then a sacking and all that goes with that.

That’s a huge understatement for what happened last season,
He won the league, and at the end of the next season he gets sacked.
Not to mention what happened with Jota.
And of course he had to mould a team with a pile of new players that he didn’t necessarily bring in.
I suppose what really gets me is Edwards and Hughes remaining in place. Where is their accountability?

Yeah i wouldnt disagree on their accountability, and it is certainly a factor in it all too. But i think slot had to go. There were no signs of improvement. To be honest, even @Kyle said it since about last March the results had been average and they got over the line in the league but not very convincingly.
Just looking at it, since April 2025, they have won 17, drawn 11 and lost 14.

They had the league won for most of that.
Undoubtedly this was a bad season but Klopp had bad seasons as well. There are loads of potential reasons for that not least a team mate being killed in a car crash.
I think what did for him was the style of football and how it wasn’t like Klopp. The fans turned.
Slot was always honest and devoid of bullshit in his interviews and I feel he’s been thrown under the bus here. How many United fans now say they shouldn’t have sacked Moyes? And he didn’t even win the league.
Slot can have no complaints. The trajectory was only going one way and was going that way since Feb 25 when the league was pretty much won. Since then the form has been woeful snd the underlying stats even more damning. Lucky to last as long.
