Log thread for stories which show FF's cronyism, arrogance, greed and incompetence

Iā€™m sure it is art. But many people donā€™t sue when they fall on government property. And people who have husbands, a son and a daughter all benefitting hugely from the Oireachtats (2 by appointment not election) would usually be a little more reticent about claiming.

Legal fees seem high for a case that didnā€™t go to court? Thatā€™s probably standard too though?

Jesus, that is a lot of money. Private Health care is fucking astromnoical. Iā€™d imagine the claim was persued fairly strongly by her health insurers

i would say the legal fees are exceptionally high in this case if they are 35k especially if it didnā€™t go to Court. if thats the case you would probably have about 750 for sols fees, 2500 or 1250 (depending on whether they got full case or brief withdrawn fee) for the barrister, then the circuit court fees for stamping coming in around 300, a couple of grand for reports from professionals so all in all about 10k max

to give you a yardstick rocko, we were in a ten year med neg case, both sides had a SC and a BL, the woman lost a kidney andit was settled and her award and the costs came to about 3k less than hanafins mothers award. would love to see the papers and the opinion of counsel in this one, costs should have been sent to a taxing office in this case

Hanafin and her mother are scumbags who will be hanging from the same lamppost when the anarchist revolution sweeps this country like a wild fire.

Is this going to take effort?

Jim McDaid has brought it to new levels with this latest rant

McDaid hits out at ā€˜mob-typeā€™ frenzy

By Mary Regan

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

A FIANNA FĆ”il TD has hit out at the ā€œmob-type frenzyā€ that has led colleagues to give up their ministerial pensions and said if it continues, politicians will be left with ā€œvery basic levelā€ earnings.

Jim McDaid, whose DĆ”il salary is ā‚¬98,424, is one of the last remaining TDs retaining his ministerial pension, worth a separate ā‚¬22,487 a year, and insisted last night he will not be giving it up.

"People are in a mob-type frenzy and politiciansā€™ attitude is that where the mob goes, they must follow.

ā€œIf we are reacting to this mob-type frenzy now, it will continue until we are brought down to a basic level and that will result in only the very wealthy entering political office.ā€

He said his pension is worth only ā‚¬425 a fortnight: ā€œThankfully Iā€™m not in a situation where Iā€™m dependant on the money but at the end of the day itā€™s a matter of principle.ā€ He said pensions were awarded for genuine reasons, including to keep former ministers from being ā€œhead-huntedā€ by the private sector and to ā€œalleviate corruptionā€.

This story appeared in the printed version of the Irish Examiner Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Only the very wealthy will be interested in gaining political power if theyā€™re not getting a ā‚¬100,000 annual salary

Sinn Fein tabled a motion to try and force a bye-election in Donegal this evening. It ended 76-76 and the FF Ceann Comhairle Seamus Kirk (who ponce voted against the legalisation of contraception) sided with FF so no bye-election. The only reason it got to 76-76 was because Frank Fahey and Timmy Dooley voted the wrong way without realising it on their e-voting thingys in front of them. Constituents in Galway and Clare should count themselves lucky to have these talented, able men serving them.

The latest Flynn family scam is impressive.

Is this the forestry thing? Didnt think there was much in by their standards.

Ivor Callely has been found guilty of intentionally mispresenting his principal residence and flasely claiming over ā‚¬80,000 in expenses.

His punishment? 20 days suspension from the Seanad.

harsh on callely

A fine FF servant:

  • sacked from a junior ministry for taking favours from a developer
  • rejected at the polls by his constituents
  • given a cushy Seanad seat by Berty
  • suspended for fraud

Heā€™ll probably be the next leader of them.

Considering 80,000 is only a dropin the ocean of the hundreds of billions it cost to run the country I think it is excessiveā€¦It would be like you getting a 20 day suspension from work for robbing 50 cent out of petty cash

One of the papers today has revealed Ivor Calelly forged invoices to claim over 3k of mobile phone allowances. Surely Cowen has to get him the boot from the Seanad?

disappointing to hear FF had a fund raising dinner in crossmaglen - 150 turned up paying Ā£50 a head
