Next week Dunph learns how to use a fax machine
I keep getting these pop-ups, probably every minute or so, from malware bytes saying “malware bytes has blocked a potentially dangerous website” or something along those lines. And then underneath it says “process: utorrent”. I dont even have utorrent open and i’m not getting these pop ups when i open a new page even, i just have TFK open the last hour or so and that’s it? :strokechin:
Looking at this Laptop lads,
Will I get better value at this price???

Sounds shit. Uninstall it and get ‘Microsoft Security Essentials’ and ‘Windows Defender’ instead.
Runt et al - any thoughts on virtual desktops in large orgs, particularly vSphere View and Xen Desktop?
Running a view PoC at the moment, one of the techies built me one at the weekend. Looks the business. Any thoughts positive or otherwise on VDI? Send me a PM I guess as will only bore the pants off others on the forum
I don’t have any real hands on experience of virtual desktops.
Only recently virtualised the servers and I must say it’s a great job.
I run virtual box on my laptop at home for create test servers for study, testing etc and it’s brilliant.
alot of large orgs seems to be leaning toward Virtual Desktops as because of pressure of those who are at the top who want to be able to access all items on their laptops, ipads and iphones
i know the company im working with is currently looking at our next OS deployment to use Citrix
Bhoys, what are Asus laptops like?
Got a brand new Asus via work there on Friday. It seems pretty good, are they reliable?
Yep pretty good brand. They have the best budget Windows 8 laptop at the moment IMO but they’re generally a decent and reliable brand.
I took a gamble and bought my latest laptop from this crowd:

Still waiting on it be delivered, but they seem to get very positive reviews and you get way more bang for your buck.

I bought a desktop off them 2 years ago. A few initial issues but great support and all sorted pretty quickly.
UltraNote: 15.6"
2.3GHz Quad Core i7 Processor
8GB of RAM
1TB Hybrid SSHD
Full HD LED Backlit Widescreen
€710 (inc VAT).
There’s no operating system with that as I already have windows 7 disk I can use.
I’d expect to have it by the end of next week and will report back on build quality then.
Chillblast are decent in a similar bracket too.

I’d say that’s a lot more fancy than i’d need. What would any of ye lads recommend for something basic
I wouldn’t go lower than a decent i5 processor and 4Gb of ram. Storage space is up to yourself.
Looks a bit complicated, does it come with one of those retractable coffee holders? Those are fierce handy.
That looks good Mac, you got one?
