Following on from Fenwayparks thread I’m going to do similar. NH only bets finishing up on the Saturday of Punchestown next April / May. All bets above 2/1 or greater. Looking for valuable longshots a lot of whichI’ll expect to place at big prices rather than necessarily win as those who’ve following my tips on here before will know from previous. I’ll obviously be backing each selection myself at the same points scale. Most bets will be through SeanieMac, Coral, BetVictor or Betfair as they are the only accounts I can currently get on with due to past history, so better prices may often be available.
As with Fenways thread, let discussion happen in the equine thread and let this be used to track bets and running totals. I’ll endeavour to have at least 1 - 2 every weekend but won’t be putting any up just for the sake of it either.
Starting off with Cheltenham tomorrow, looking at the Amateur Riders Handicap Chase at 5pm. I’ve had Rockshandy on my watch list since he stole the race in Galway 2 wins ago. He got a slight lead jumping the last having led all the way and kicked on. He had Minella for Value in 2nd that day and has finished 3rd behind him twice since then. He looks to be a pure summer horse so once the ground stays Good then I’m happy enough. The jockey would be a concern in normal circumstances but given its a race of amateurs and Maura McElligot claims a handy 7lbs off I’m not put off. So far this season he’s had the following horses behind him
Minella for Value - subsequently beat him twice and is as short as 9/2 for a much classier contest tomorrow in Cheltenham
Darroun - subsequently won a beginners chase in Tipp a few weeks back
Gudnis Gracious Me - subsequently won a Handicap Chase in Roscommon
I’d have some concerns that its his first run in the UK and his UK rating is highly inflated from what he’s achieved in Ireland but not enough to put me off having a punt at 12/1.
Good man mac. I’ll follow your selections with interest, as I do Fenners’. Please throw up the reasoning when you can, it is what decides me on following a horse.
