Mad cows in Galway

Jesus if this doesn’t bring out KP nothing will

There’s been mad cows in Galway for years, most of them wear Tommy Varden Catering jerseys.

Anyone any further updates on this?

Not good news & most worrying that it’s been spotted in an animal of that age.

EX Irish Times

The Department of Agriculture has identified an atypical BSE case in an 18-year-old cow in Galway.

It was identified through surveillance of “fallen” animals which died on a farm in Galway.
There are no associated public health risks with atypical BSE.

It occurs in older animals with a low incidence rate, having been first recognised in the early 2000s.

I thought that at 18 years that would still be not be overly worrying.

What would be a cause though? Funny dust in the past?

I’m no expert (I know you could tell that from my posts) but it was probably in the animal food years ago and has taken this long to show up. Sure aren’t all cattle in the food chain under 3 or 4 years now. If it showed up in a young animal then we would be fucked.

It’s doesn’t bear thinking about what got into the food chain via beef in the 80’s & 90’s. Eating Horse meat could actually have been good for your health.

not with what those trainers were (and probably still are) injecting into them

Give it a few years when the symptoms from GM food start to develop…now that is something to worry about.

If a farmer thought a young animal had symptoms the cow would get a belt of a sledge between the eyes and get buried in a limey grave

Damn straight

That shit doesn’t work anymore dan.

Trying to explain the missing animal to DAFM could be interesting… seeing as they know all of the animals that are/should be in your herd on any given day

Could you cut the skin off him and put it around a calf?

No

A horse then?

Could you not just register it as a missing animal? You could plant the tags outside a foxes den or a badgers sett for the authorities to find and hey presto - case closed
