We need a websummit thread @rocko, this doesn’t belong in the major boosts to the Irish Economy thread.
Tech guru Chris Froome spoke at the web summit yesterday.
Maybe its out there but I still haven’t seen any hard facts or figures about how much the Web Summit brings to the local economy at the time of the event and how much investment/new jobs it has subsequently brought in as a result of the event.
As did angel investor Joe Canning.
And Silicon Valley’s own Dougie Howlett.
The time and companionship sector aka to some the sex industry is thriving this week.
It’s a cash industry though.
Joe Canning, Chris Froome, Dougie Howlett, wow, these really are the movers and shakers in the tech world. This fucker is a genius!
It’s the nerds equivalent of the Ideal Homes exhibition or the Ploughing. That’s about all I can take from it. Let it fuck off to Lisbon.
How does Joe Canning manage to get these gigs? Hes a bland enough sort of a fella.
I think you’ve just answered your own question.
Kathy Sheridan reports in today’s Irish Times that the event doesn’t rank as one of the Top 10 Annual Events in Ireland.
I’m sure Taksin who is developing a virtual reality 3D printing start up would be interested to hear Joe’s thoughts on why the media are always waiting in the long grass for Galway.
Did I hear on the news yesterday that Bernard Brogan and Paul Flynn were also speaking?
I couldn’t tell you. Did you?
I think so, but I wasn’t paying much attention.
There is a sport summit running parallel to the web summit I think. Hence all the spokespeople wandering around. It’s so normal people will pay the nerds a bit of attention.
Wow, imagine the reception these guys will get in Lisbon?
I believe Jamie Heaslip was also speaking.
Joe’s talk was on how to get rid of management if you’re not happy with them.
Sums up Cosgrave that he could only to engage the services of a total spoofer on the subject.
The Mayo players apparently snubbed him.
Some more of those sports speakers.
