Managerial Merrygoround Thread

You could be back supporting man united by November.

Man U will be hard to stop next season. Ole had them playing like champions for the first three months when he took over. It was only the fitness levels that let them down then and that was a legacy issue of what he inherited. Fitness issues will all be sorted out pre season. They’ll take some stopping.

And no Champions League commitments .

Just give them the trophy now.

Was there much of a difference in performance between Rafa and the likes of Eddie Howe, the lad at Watford, even Sean Dyche?

I always got the feeling that Rafa’s contribution there was overstated. He did well undoubtedly but there are other managers in the mid to bottom half of the league who have done as well, and better.

Sean Dyche plays caveman football with a £100m team.

Locals would stone you for such heresy

I’m not sure any other managers were dealing with an ownership as dysfunctional and as unsupportive of them as Rafa was

I think Ashley hates Geordies and is using the club to gain vengeance. There is no other excuse for what he has done. If he wanted to sell then the best price he could get was when he had Rafa in charge. That opportunity is now gone.

Rafas #netspend was basically zero over his three full seasons in charge.

The only team in the EPL that spent less over the period was famed sellers Southampton

He also completely built a new team from scratch over the period getting rid of all the dead weight from the relegation, trimming down the wages etc and starting again.
There are many teams in the championship who’ve spent more than Rafa did in the three years.

All while working with that absolute basket case Ashley trying everything he can to sabotage the club for reasons I don’t think even he can understand

I’d imagine he also had less influence over those transfer dealings than those other managers.

Great to see Brucey back.

Adrian Durham on talkSport earlier said he has it on good authority Pochettino is leaving regardless of result on Sunday. I see on some markets for first manager to go he has gone into 7/2 from 50/1.

Spurs finally chasing the Specialist in Failure?

Meanwhile, in the real world, Watford have sacked their latest manager.
