Getting back on track, Gerard Houllier has finally been extricated from his FFF contract and will officially take control of Aston Villa against Bolton on Saturday.

Sven’s a decent manager imo. Has gotten a bad rap from English media but he’s not the clown they want people to believe he is.
If he was fully concentrated on the job he would be fine but that is a bit of a risk. Three league and cup doubles in three countries. Pretty solid season at City was unlucky with Drogba’s injury at the World Cup.
Three successive quarter final defeats with England wasnt bad going. the first side was shit, Seaman, Mills, Vassell, Sinclair in the mix but they werent far off knocking out the eventual winners Brazil in 2002, a very decent England side in 2004, Rooney’s injury against Portugal was crucial. Losing to the best side in that tournament on penalties was no disgrace either. They were pretty shit in 2006 but after Rooney got sent off against Portugal I thought they played some great stuff and did well to take it to penalties. He has his faults, not the best to spot changes and very loyal to certain players but a manager is judged on results and his are pretty decent. Would love to see him do well to put it up to his critics.
