Blackburn’s new owners going after Maradona according to Oliver Kay of The Times (English version) on twitter.
The EPL just gets more and more bizarre. What with Zola being sacked first for Avraham Grant, then Newcastle sacking Hughton and now the Allardyce situation. Baffling. What’s next? I suppose Di Matteo will be sacked from West Brom to be replaced by Terry Venables…
Fergie is seething his drinking buddy has been axed. What price is Alan Curbishley? His name always pops up anytime anyone is sacked.
Its believed that MON is set to take over from Grant at West Ham
As a devoted hammer I can only endorse that move. Saying that Grant has 4 wins 2 draws and 1 loss in last 7, albeit a drubbing by NU. Recent form is decent, one leg in league cup final too. Squad is shocking though.
Interesting move. They’ve already got an overpaid squad so he’ll hardly leave them in a worse financial position anyway. Good appointment for West Ham anyway.
For a man who was once being mentioned as a potential MUFC, LFC, and England manager, this is quite the fall from grace. Villa and now WHUFC? Bizarre, sack the agent.
Rumours that MON could balk at the job now that its been leaked, especially seeing as Grant is still in situ. Shambolic stuff from West Ham.
Grant is staying on at West Ham
Joke of a Club.
Apparently Di Matteo has been fired from West Brom
Bit harsh, although there were reports a few few weeks ago that he was under pressure to get results…After a decent enough start they have slowly been pulled back in to the relegation battle
Crazy stuff, didn’t realised he has been sacked recently. Madness, he had been doing a fine job with them.
Chris Hughton to be installed at WBA. Bad move on Hughtons part, wont end well.
Better than being on the dole.
Ah I’d imagine he’s not on the breadline somehow or other. Just cant see him doing much there only damaging a more than likely fragile reputation. Seems a bad fit.
So what do you propose he does? Do a Paul Jewell and quit at the top and go down to the Championship so as to give the impression of good manager while never really testing himself consistently at the top level?
There are not that many jobs out there. I’d imagine any manager out of work would relish a Premier League job, if not then he is not a proper manager.
Thats exactly what I’d propose farmer, I think he’s on a hiding to nothing at WBA, they’ll most likely be relegated anyway and I dont see him as having the time or charisma to turn them around. He’d be far better off building something at a Club in the Championship imo. Failing that, he’s a decent coch who will no doubt easily get work at that.
Don’t think Chris is afraid of a challenge somehow, and its easier stay in the EPL than get into it. It was a disgrace Di Matteo was fired though.
13 defeats in 18 games, rumours of having lost the dressing room, and a very favourable fixture list approaching, the board jumped, which is fair enough, its their dollar.
They shoulod remember where they were coming from, and no manager can compete in that league without money. They didn’t give him any. His small squad was bound to struggle at some stage. They also pushed him to play in a certain way, you can’t have it every way. Some owners are completely dilliousional.
