Mark Hughes has left Fulham.
Presumably he’s upgrading himself from a Cottage to a Villa.
What are you talking about? This decision has nothing to do with any other club.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to clarify that neither myself nor my representative have approached or have been approached by another club.
“This decision to leave Fulham has not been influenced by any outside party.”
My source in Birmingham has just texted me to say that Villa are not considering Hughes for their manager’s job
sidewards move if he does move to aston villa
At best.
Marteeeeeeen Jhol has been appointed as the new Fulham manager. Jes.
Jol really made a mess of his departure from Ajax. Did he not turn down the Fulham job when Hughes got it? Didn’t manage to win a league title with Ajax despite a really good record there because of his shit start and hasty departure.
I would have thought that Martin O’Neill would have been a much better choice. Pretty much guaranteed to stay up with him in charge and maybe challenge for a cup and get into the top half. That’s about as high as Fulham would be aiming.
Villa board arent considering Hughes and McClaren.
Martin Jol is lucky enough to get in at Fulham. McClaren at Twente beat him to the title at Ajax two years and he left last season with Frank de Boer taking Ajax to the title.
The form of 5th placed finishes with Spurs is decent but its a while ago for him now.
Might be interested in Robbie Keane. He got the best form out of Keane at club level before. Partnership with Zamora would score a lot of goals I reckon.
Yeah I’m sure it’s a move that would appeal to Keane too, allowing him to stay in London, stay in the EPL, play with a taller striker and work for a manager he’s played with before.
Jol was a bit unlucky to win nothing with Ajax because they were the best team in Holland from a few months into his reign until he resigned, and still are. He just had a poor start and quit too suddenly.
Also talk that he will bring in Chris Hughton and his assistant manager. Could be good news for Robbie, if he wants to stay in London? Fulham would be the best of a bad bunch of clubs really.
Would be amazed if that happened. Hughton should have a bit of ambition about him to take a job by himself.
Hughton wont be going as Jol’s assistant. Think he might beat MON to the Cardiff job.
KIB’s obsession with O’Neill is quite humourous.
Coyle or Martinez apparently for Villa.
Martinez didnt bring Swansea up and Wigan have scraped survival in their two seasons in the league under him.
Coyle in fairness took Burnley up, kept Bolton up but they faded away badly enough at the end of the season.
Think Benitez, Hughes and McClaren are all a step above that. Both Coyle and Martinez play ‘good football’ but there is more to a club than playing good football, distinctly underwhelming appointment it seems on its way.
I doubt either would go to Villa, especially Coyle who has done an excellent job at Bolton.
If they were available i would certainly take Coyle over anyone bar maybe Benitez, think Martinez is still quite naive. But his heart being in Liverpool makes me think he should just go upstairs there instead. Don’t think McClaren would get enough respect from the players at Villa and i think Hughes loyalty is in question now.
Not sure his attitude has really changed much there to both of them has it Runt?
Either way, its looking like Martinez.
I was sure they got promoted when they won League One under Martinez but I’ll take your word for it.
Anyway looks more likely to be Martinez now - they’ve been given permission to talk.
