Managerial Merrygoround Thread

If ever there was an example of a modern scientific coach coming up against a wall it is this. Villa are incredibly old school by all accounts. Now its caught them.

Its amazing to see but change has to come from within, Leicester decided back circa 2011/12 to become more scientific and analytical about everything. I remember way back reading about their approach to injuries etc. They have changed the game. Raneiri, while obviously a very savvy man and perfectly suited, is really only the cherry on top. Their organisation is run brilliantly. They are winning the league largely due to financial management and trust in their medical and Sports Science teams. Its great for someone like me to see, vindication almost. Their injury record this year is phenomenal for EPL. And alot of the “top” managers have been exposed this last year or two due to their abuse of players, lack of trust in medical teams and other staff. Van Gaal, Wenger, Jose, Pep et al are all injuring players regualrly and costing their teams titles. The word from Arsenal is Wenger is an idiot in this regard and listens to nobody. This injuries are part of the game (in a non-contact context) is nonsense.

I know a bit about Garde and who he works with and listens to regards coaching and Sports Science, Martin Bucheitt, ine of the best in the world. Just shows though it means fuck all if you don’t get internal support. He is proba ly the guy for a ling term improveme t but not a crisis situation. Poor choice that way.

Is Kev trying to claim credit for Leicester winning the league or did I read that wrong?

They’re gamechangers. Thats why they were bottom of the league this time last season. It was all part of the plan.

Spurs are going to win the league pal.

Lolz-stick to the amateur “sports”

I couldn’t give a fuck what view you take, you are a moron.

I was responding to Balbec who no doubt wpuld take a bit of interest in what i have to say, as he understands the difference between naysayers, bull shitters etc and people who actually know whats going on.

Do you have an opinion on why Leicester are going to win the league? How they have done it?

They kept doing the right things and then made a brave decision on their manager.

I suppose you think its luck got them there?

As usual you didn’t/can’t read what i say.

You are dazzled in the headlights by alternative views not spat out by the idiotic media.

Yeah.

They’ve got more points than the other teams. Leagues are won on the pitch not off it. You trying to credit sports science is fucking hilarious. Their lack of injuries are primarily down to Leicester players playing far less football than the other big teams.

No European football, relatively few established international players.

Drinkwater and Kate have been fit all year because Leicester will play 43 competitive games this season. They only received their debut call ups last week for their national sides.

Man City will have played a minimum of 58 competitive games this season, Liverpool will have played a minimum of 61 games this season. Both have squads packed full of established international players.

Fuchs and Okazaki are the only starting players in the Leicester side who are established international players.

The players and manager deserve huge credit, stop trying to claim this as a victory for sports science when it clearly is not.

Yes it was good planning that caused the scandal that got Pearson sacked and lead to them making the brave decision to appoint Ranieri.

For what it’s worth, Villa’s pre season was utter shite.

They got lucky

From an entirely non scientific laymans view it always struck me that Arsenal got an inordinate number of very serious injuries. I’m glad to hear @caoimhaoin echo my concerns. I always wondered was there some issue with their training that caused this.

Big clubs have significantly more olayers that should allow them deal with this.

Of course games are won on the field, but tge oreperation away from it is huge. The fact that you don’t understand that shows where you are at with understanding of the entire thing.

Man City have several players worth the entire squad at Leicester. If talent was the decisive reason for winning then Leicester would barely stay up. So it has to be something else. How did those central players stay so fit? They were minded, thats why. They were built up for the season and then looked after. Unlike the gonshites at the big clubs who because of money have forgot to plan.
