Sherwood didn’t buy players at Spurs and Almstadt was responsible for identifying players and buying. Sherwood had little say in the matter.
Doubt he bombed out of college. Isn’t he a doctor now.
Amazing. Thanks for letting me know that Fagan.
You are 100%. Still part of a whatsapp group from Oz which includes and few Armagh/Tyrone lads and they were aling similar lines.
I do think there is a bit of good cop/bad cop there.
No problem. Happy to inform.
They don’t have tactics with Cross, they play one way and one way only. If their full back is taking a roasting they don’t bother dropping anyone back to help him out, that’s his problem.
It’s arrogant but it’s served them well thus far.
They coach them to be good footballers. As it should, the majority of the work is done a long way away from championship games.
According to Niblock they have been known to drop a man back, he said as much on OTB the other night after it, but it would be rare in fairness. They have supreme faith in their kick passing, and forwards ability to win ball. He did proffer the suggestion that its relatively easy to play this way when you have the inside forward line and foot passers they have however, and were this not to be the case he’d imagine they’d adapt.
Teams are coached in line with the vision of the manager. What stands to Cross is they have a tradition of the way they play and it’s always ex players who come in as managers and continue on that tradition. It has served them well.
It’s a bit stupid trying to use one specific example to compare against another person in a similar circumstance. All people and there make up, both physically and mentally, are different. To be able to play to the level that Lucey did, along with commitment to his studies, was an exception.
I simply said fair play to him for managing to prioritise and get his college education. It was a hell of an achievement to do that given all the teams he was committed to and given how far from home he was based. Commendable.
See Pardew, Alan
Hmm, where are going with this one?
We’re already there.
He still spent 40m at Villa on absolute dross. Point taken on not buying at Spurs but when things went wrong, they went wrong quickly. Not a good manager.
Something Aidan Walsh related no doubt.
He seems to have inherited the Kerry insecurity in regards to everything Cork from his roots there.
It was Sherwood who was tasked with buying players at Villa. It was Almstadt.
Are ypu trying to say Tim Sherwood was a good manager?
Not that Paddy Reilly guy? Think he is next for the bullet at the Villa.
Yes.
