Not so long ago you had a scatter of the ground football fans roaring and lepping on here by the week about how rugby was dead. Fans were gone, IRFU could never compete with french and English, concussion was going to kill the game blah blah blah.
Now here we are a few short years later. Rugbys loyal fans have toughed it out. Leinster are the best club side in the World. Ireland have won another grand slam. Munster are back at the business end of European competition. We are no 2 in the world. And the money keeps on flooding in.
On the other hand football is eating itself. The international game is in disarray. The national side here only has a fanbase coz its an excuse for a foreign piss up and most of those bandwagoners are moved onto mcgregor now. TFK is a good barometer and the previous ‘hardcore’ UTD fans are gone savage quiet, e.g. dodgy hasnt mentioned united since he went to sweden when they won the challenge cup or whatever its called. Hes moved onto limerick hurling now full time surprisingly enough coinciding with success. Bandage and rocko barely bump the celtic thread any more now that they are languishing in the depths of mid table.
How many rugby threads are on the go in here now? Its taken over as the predominant winter sport on this forum, and in the country. Wonderful showcase in the aviva as well this evening to look forward to
